My take

You know how it is, when it strikes you, you just wanna go all ahead for it.

We caught two shows in one day. Adrenaline definitely. All those action. Whee.

It's a good thing we caught War of the Worlds first though.

Now, I've always thought I've read the book before. I have the book at home, and somehow I always knew what the story was about. But all the middle bits seem very foreign. I knew what the aliens were like, I knew how they died, but when I went home and rift through the book, it seemed that I have not read it before. How strange.

Anyway, the story was written in the 19th century. In the 21st century, expectations are different. It certainly seems quite ridiculous that for an intelligent species who had been watching Earth for millions of years, they would do such a stupid thing like exposing themselves to the atmosphere and food of this world, without even knowing about germs, bacteria and viruses. Kinda really silly. It seems a convenient way for HG Wells to kill them off, without going into specifics.

Oh well. I thought Tom Cruise didn't look very suitable as the hero. He didn't looked rugged enough. He just seemed to have this clean cut military chap look about him. Not really just a crane operator. And besides ... he looked so short. heh. But the action was rather cool. Mind numbing fun.

I think I've always mixed up War of the Worlds with another sci-fic story by another author, which I can't remember right now. The aliens were also tripod-like. But that one was in more detail ... and it kinda reminded me of a combination of robotech and well ... war of the worlds, I guess. Hmmm.

Batman Begins, on the other hand, is great. Christian Bale definitely looked real good. I think he's the best of all batman ... well, except that his head is too almond shaped. Not much of a squarish jaw of batman. Can't really be helped I guess. The story was a bit slow, but engaging. Only fault I guess is that ... well, that machine which vapourised water seems rather far-fetched. What is stopping it from vapourising water in one's body?

Next ... Fantastic Four. :)

I finally got my belated birthday present from Wen. She got hers as well. I decided that I don't need to look for something she really really likes and that it'll be useful for her, it's simply too difficult. Just something which I know she would probably like, and heck if she doesn't like it. Anyway, I think she does liked what I gave her .. though they're probably quite useless.

Well, she gave me something really useful. I got a lovely set of nail polish with all the works. Darn. She knows I like nail polish ... but she doesn't know that I hardly use them! Oh dear ... now I have got to go and paint my nails myself. Darn darn darn. :P

Did I mention I'm too lazy to do such stuffs? Gee, I'd rather go out and get it done for me.

*bleah*

Perhaps I shall do my nails later ... after I clear up dinner.

She brought me to do threading. I must say the effect is really nice. heh heh. Quite painful though, I think the lady must have pulled out quite a lot of hairs. doh.

Can go again. Pretty cheap. :P

And Wen finally realises that there's so much things to do even when one has one month of hols. You don't have to go anywhere at all! Less stress too.

The bum boat

It's so easy to become a bummer.

Yes, I have become so lazy, that I can't even be bothered to blog.

And I haven't been going to swim, or for yoga ... or been doing anything much ... except sleep. :P

And now the ironing piles up.

bummer.

Good grief

I hate taking medicine then going to sleep. When you wake up, the whole body feels like kenna hamtum. Ouch. Still feeling sickish, but I guess much better than yesterday. I shan't take anymore of the medicine if I can help it.

The resident lizard mentioned earlier had met with an unfortunate accident. It attempted to be friendly, but I was not amused. Too bad. I really didn't mean it. Really. It just gave me a fright. I think it had probably drowned.

We exchanged the money plant for another. After its memorable bath, it couldn't really stand upright and was all drooping with the after shock. Was never the same again.

Still feeling sick. Damn.

Last Day

Bliss is when you finally get to sit down, put your feet up, and enjoy your ice-cream.

Dust is what you always see, but the dear hubby doesn't see. And all those long hairs as well. So there is no wonder why you are always doing the vacumming.

It makes me sneeze.

The resident lizard has arrived and taken up a nice place in the toilet. It scuttles away whenever the lights are switched on. Still a bit shy, and rather small and thin, but I guess that would change soon. I suppose it is feeding itself quite happily, though I wonder what it's eating. No I don't want to know. I'll only be glad if it does not decide to shift house. We would have to take steps if it decides to move out of the toilet. *bleah*

Five more minutes to go and I have to start preparing lunch. There's always something to do, and you can't just lie in bed all day.

I don't feel like going out on my own nowadays. And there isn't anyone to go out with me. I should be shopping for things for the house, but I'm feeling extremely lazy. Was thinking of enjoying my last day to have dim sum with mom, but the house was too untidy to leave alone. I'm becoming obsessed.

It's the sneezing.

Udon for lunch. Fish for dinner perhaps.

My top of the list of all favourite fruits is now the cherry. Need to buy more. Second in place are mangosteens. They're a bit messy that's why. Then followed by lychees, grapes (of the sweet seedless and thin skin types), watermelons, oranges and apples. Bottom of the list include banana ... and last of the last are papayas.

Need to do more exercise.

Happy endings

I've finally gotten to watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. After hearing so much about it too. Didn't really read the reviews, but heard it was pretty good. Well, it was a pleasant surprise. I always thought Jim Carey was only good as a lousy joker. He sure did a pretty good job in this show. In the beginning, I caught no ball ... but as the story progress, it capitavated and engrossed ... and it was really rather charming ... and most interesting. Ingenious too.

No matter how much you can erase your memories, what attracts you to the person still seems to attract.

And going back into your memories of the good times, you realised just how important the person you loved is to you.

It just felt so powerful.

There are always good times and bad times. Perhaps the trick to live happily (or maybe not happily but to be in love) ever after is to remember the good times and continously change and improve. Both learn important things about themselves and each other. And when they are willing to accept that and work towards loving each other ... perhaps that's all that matters?

True isn't it?

There was a mutual attraction, yet they ended up pushing each other away. I'm so glad it ended happily ... with a hope, and a hope is enough for a dream.

And I'm so glad to be so lucky ... to have found someone to belong to.

:P

There will always be good memories and bad memories ... and hopefully there will always be more good than bad memories. :)

Blow wind blow

The windows were opened the whole day today, welcoming the cool wind throughout the house. Oh blow, things went flying and tumbling, doors went a-banging and my hair flew wildly around me. Lovely to have such cool wind, that is ... if you close your eyes to the dust it brings in as well. You don't want to think too much about that.

It's nice to go out to do up the hair, and feel very different from the frumpy housewife you've become recently. With hair styled and blown, you just looked good in the clothes you try on, plus having a special discount really makes you part with your money even faster. People all tell me that I've lost weight. From my aunts to the therapist ... and even the weighing scale seems dubious. I'm not sure if I've really lost much weight, and hubby remarked that my arms seem rather watery lately, having not been going religiously for yoga. I guess it's just part of becoming older. One finally loses one's baby fat. heh

I should have gone for yoga this morning, but it feels good to lie a bit longer in bed. Realllly good. That's bad. I need motivation.

I returned Xel's call today and finally told her. There was a stunned pause for a while. I swear I could hear her thinking ... what? I thought you ... But she recovered pretty quick. It doesn't matter. That would have been my reaction too. I just thought it was pretty funny. heh. Anyway, all that is behind, and we're certainly looking forward. It's kinda strange how fast people adapt to things. :P

It's so easy to be a frumpy housewife at home. There's always the cooking, cleaning, washing and ironing to do. What else do you wear except a frumpy old T and shorts while you sweat it all out? Just did an hour of ironing and boy, do I creak after that. Twists are best after standing for such a long time. It's amazing how easy it is. Fortunately I'm simply too lazy to be too obsessed with cleanliness. As long as it looks neat and clean, I'm quite happy.

The most frightening movies ever are not those horror shows that play on your nerves and try to scare the shit out of you by all those cheap trills. The most frightening shows ever are instead those real life documentary shows you see on BBC world or Discovery or National Geo which depicts the life of a woman in a third world country, or in some very ulu part of Africa. I was watching one such during my vacation. A young girl of seventeen was forced into marriage. The groom gave ten cows to the father, and the girl was promised as wife. Oh no, they were not selling her. those were just a gift. No one gave a damn what she wanted. She wanted to continue her studies (they were not as ulu as not having an education), but she was simply told to marry the guy, and promised a better life. Groom wanted a fat wife. So the fiance was force fed cow's milk everyday, almost every hour for four months before the wedding ... to be fat. And to continue after the wedding as well. Imagine being shuttered in a small hut, waking up drinking a gourd of milk, another, an hour and half later, another for lunch, another for tea, another round for dinner and last round for supper. One big gourd each time under the watchful eyes of Grandma who would beat her if she did not comply. In between each feeding, there was nothing for her to do except to sleep, and not to think. I could not imagine the horrors of that. I could not tear my eyes away. There was a horrid fascination about the whole show. It was just simply so awful. And the villages were Christians, who believed they were giving her a better future, and in time to come, she too had accepted her fate. Resigned.

I cannot get that out of my mind.

Being fat had problems too. Her sister-in-law had heart problems and other illness due to her obesed body. She had difficulty getting up, walking around and probably had her life shorten by twenty years. She was interviewed too, and you can see in her eyes the resignation of her life. That is the life they knew. That is the life they lived.

At the end of the programme, you could see that from a gawky skinny teenage, she had become much rotund and fat. There was a sense of dispair and sadness about her, she cried every night when not seen by relatives. Her tears flowed as she was being interviewed. She cried silently during the wedding ceremony. There was just not a glimmer of smile or joy about her person. Her face just read misery and resignation. How could anyone look forward to such a life?

Back at my grandma's place, my two aunts spent their day cleaning, washing, cooking and all the housework which have to be done as well as seeing to the kids and granny. After which, they would plop down in front of the tele and while away the rest of the time glued. Horrors of horrors, they were watching our local productions! Arrgh. One soap after another, another after another. Maybe HK as well, or Taiwanese etc. Perhaps only to unglue to cook or to take a short break. And beyond that conversations were trival and superficial. I can't imagine a life like that either.

What do I have? Work - repetition after repetition. Home - cleaning, washing, cooking, ironing. Rest - the tele? Books? Conversation? What is to prevent me from spiralling downwards to become mush or an unintelligible glob? What is there to allow me to keep my sanity and to give me room to grow? Do we all become monotonous and boring and unthinking? Is that how we become as we grow old? Oh horrors.

Xel reminded me that Noriko Ogawa is coming to town again. We might just go and see her. I need my piano soon! I need to learn new things! Arrgh.

The travelling apples

The best part about Malaysia was the relatives and definitely the food. It was nice visiting my uncles and aunties and cousins and most certainly getting free lunches and dinner ... and transport. heh heh.

All in all, a most satisfying holiday. The first hotel we stayed wasn't too good though. A three star one which faked a five star on the internet and cheated us to pay five star rates. Thanks to my father who remembered wrongly and gave the lousy recommendation. We moved out almost immediately the next day, and you can sure as hell hear me grumble the whole day! Even hubby wasn't too pleased, and that says a lot ... since he's usually the easy-going one. We'll never be back there for sure!

Dinner first night was crabs, chilli kangkong, a kind of shellfish called lala ... and I forgot. That three dishes was enough to make me die without regrets. Food there was really good! And pretty cheap. And we didn't even have to pay a single cent. *bleah*

We drove down to SP the next day and had lunch with some of my aunts. The roast duck was pretty good, but that was about it. Nice meeting them though. I always got along pretty well with all my aunts. Then Father drove us down to Alor Star to visit Granny. We stopped for durians on the way ... very very delicious durians, though the aftertaste wasn't too good, what with each of us burping along the rest of the journey and contributing to the sour smell. heh. But the next best part were the one kilo of mangosteens we bought! Oh mangosteens. My favourite. *swoon*

Dinner on the second night wasn't too ideal. Fourth aunt wasn't around, and she's the one with good suggestions on where to get nice food. Still, I guess one shoudn't complain too much especially when they treated us after all. If Grandpa were still around, he would know where to go for nice food. Grandma doesn't want to leave the house nowadays, and we couldn't get her to come along, no matter what. She's getting absent minded nowadays. I guess age is finally catching up.

I'm sure hubby was dreaming of driving fast cars. The next day when he woke up, he told me he wanted to go to Langkawi. My uncle worked there and he sells cars, and over dinner the previous night, my aunts were telling him all about the Ferraris and being able to test drive around the island. You could sure see his eyes sparkling after that. So off we went then. The water was extremely choppy, and I threw up my lunch, which had never happened before. Damn. It's ok though, lunch wasn't too good too. I told Father I wanted to go to the place where we used to always go for lunch with Grandpa, but he brought us to the wrong one. :( It was quite disappointing at AS.

So we spent the third day at Langkawi. No fast cars to test drive though, since most of them had been sold due to the impending tax. But we certainly did have a great time with fourth aunt who brought us to the most delicious seafood place with lovely steamed crabs, steamed fish, big prawns, lala ... and they were very cheap and extremely fresh too. *droooooool* My fourth aunt is like a tribal leader in the island. Almost everyone greets her when they see her and she gets special privileges. heh heh. We got to stay at one of the best resort hotel for half the rate. Must go back again! :P We also went to the pasa malam and bought the nicest mangosteens ever. Oh drrrrrooooooool. I sure as hell stuffed myself full of mangosteens that night!

The last day wasn't very interesting. It was a long road trip back ... from Langkawi to AS to SP and back to Penang to catch out night flight. (oh yes, we changed our flight twice, and almost a third time as well!) Lunch was at AS with very nice noodles. At least Father got that place right. Now I now why mom loves the noodles there. We had three bowls between the two of us. heh. Dinner before leaving was western steak, and I must say ... the portions were huge. So much bigger than what we have here. Oh boy.

Food. I've been eating non-stop since I got there. Crabs, prawns, fish, lala ... and best of all ... mangosteens. Drooling even now to think of them. Oh, the mangosteens. Oh wow .... and the crabs. Too bad I didn't get to eat really nice lala yet. Oh well. :P

Mangosteens. Arrgh.

***
Oh, and what was it about the apples? We took some from home before we left, since there were still quite a lot left from that time, and we were afraid they would spoil by the time we got home. So the apples went island and town hopping with us as well, till they were finally slaughtered at AS.

:P

Arrrgh ... those mangosteens. I sure didn't have enough of them. The stomach can only hold that much each time! *bleah*

*****
I wonder where xena has gone off to. Has she gone off blogging for good?

Mangosteens?

***
Everyone seems to be talking about it. All because the nation main newspaper published a lousy gossipy article. I just have one opinion of it. It's sad when the nation newspapers resorts to taboid gossips to keep its readers entertained.

And hubby brought to my attention the other day that front page news was about how people are all spending so much more, to give a sense of a growing economy, and hidden away on the fourth page was an article about an impending technical recession. Bad times ahead are not important for us to know.

:P

Things are decidedly starting to look gloomy.

I saw mangosteens selling here. Wonder if they're any good. Expensive though. Very much more ex than back in M.

***
Grandma is in hospital back here. She was losing energy and didn't want to eat. Refused to open her mouth. Mom panicked and called the ambulance. She was put on drip and now seems better. Last I heard, mom told me they're sending a speech therapist to see her. Speech therapist?! Whatever for. DUH. The last time we sent her to the hospital they also sent a speech therapist who ended up wasting time and money. Grandma's mind is gone. Gone. I told mom to get a social worker to access the finanical conditions. I doubt anyone can heal grandma in her mind. It was too late. They should have let her see a psychatrist when she was showing signs ... or maybe neuro ... but nooo ... no no no. At least Grandma seems to be picking up again, I suppose that is ... good, and mom's burden of taking care of her on her own will still continue. My friend had advised to get a social worker. I wonder if mom would do that.

Poor grandma. When she was still aware of things around her, she didn't want to live anymore. I wouldn't want to myself if I'm ever in this state.

And mom suffers the most. Oh, she doesn't see it as a burden at all. Who am I to say that she's suffering. I'm sure she would have loved to go with us to Malaysia this round. She loves the food there as much as I do. She hasn't been back there for so long. It would have been fun to have her around too. I bet she'll stuff herself with noodles and durians. :P

*****
Yesterday MIL washed our little money plant the way I would wash my vegetables before I cook them. The poor little plant looked ... well, extremely clean and the leaves are pathetically drooping over the pot. I think the plant must have gotten a shock of its life. hahahahaha. I told hubby he has got to sing to them later to sorta perk them up. I'm no green thumb. Plants are hubby's territory. heh.

Monday, June 13, 2005

uh oh ...

Booked tickets wrongly.

*sticks tongue out*

I wonder if we could change the flight later. I thought I clicked on the one which I was supposed to click. Oh dear.

No harm really ... just not very ideal after all.

1 am. Have not packed yet. Was glued to TV and enjoying comfort of new sofa. heh heh.

Will have to wake up early and pack.

Shesssh.

Super idle sunday

There isn't anything much to write about nowadays since life is peaceful and monotonous. Some may say boring, but I kinda liked it. Just days passing by, like the clouds floating across the sky. Not much worries ... and being happy to spend the time with my dear hubby. Perhaps it has also because I've come to accept it as part of life. After all, if not now, when?

So another idle sunday goes by. We woke up latish ... not me, I managed to catch Japan Hour again, had a nice dim sum brunch at a kopishop near by, which was pretty good, and idled the afternoon away. When hubby wakes from his nap, I bet he'll be feeling hungry again. heh. Going for a dip later in the evening, pack the bags for tomorrow, and perhaps if there's time, go out and buy some stuffs for tomorrow.

Yep, and that will be a short trip to Penang. I've not been there for ages. The highlight would be all the nice food which I'm kinda looking forward to. And we'll be visiting my granny as well. Father has volunteered to be our tour-guide, but he hasn't been to Penang either for a while. Hopefully my aunts/uncles would be free to bring us around. Never had been really close to all my cousins. The big ones are all over the country, I doubt we'll be seeing any of them.

Teesie Weesie Problems

The problem with having a nice hot shower is that afterwards you just don't feel like doing anything much at all, except wrap yourself nicely and snuggedly in bed and snooze a bit.

The problem with eating out is that those food contain so much salt and MSG that it makes you so thirsty and you found horribly that your stomach can only hold a certain amount of water and watermelon and it's still not enough to quench that awful thirst.

The problem with having dinner with dear hubby is that lunch was only three hours ago and the food in your stomach have not had the chance to really digest but you would rather eat with him than eat alone later, so you stuff yourself happily because once you start eating, it doesn't seem so bad, except that afterwards you really feel fat and bloated.

The problem with dearest hubby is that he is a kaibutsu (monster) who actually can feel hungry three hours after huge lunch, and three hours later after huge dinner, and almost every hour in between.

Hey, so I didn't succumb to the nice inviting bed with the cozy covers to wrap oneself in, but I washed the clothes instead. You can't just dump them all in the washing machine, you have to soak them for a while, not too long or they'll smell, rinse and/or scrub them and finally put them into the wash. Hubby is more detailed than I. Me? I'm not that patient.

I wonder how Xena is. She doesn't seem to be writing anymore. I hope she is all right after her treatment. I must remember not to bug her to write more often for my amusement, else she'll definitely start charging me a flat rate. heh.

Okie, now all I need to do is to try to throw out all that dinner I had earlier so that I'll feel much more at ease. Damn feeling so bloated now. ... n e e d w a t e r ! Must not watch TV and eat at the same time. Unconscious shoving of food in mouth is definitely not healthy! Arrgh.

Chuzzle puzzle

When all else fails, you know that you can always rely on mom to have lunch with, or to spend some time together with. I guess I'm one of the lucky few people who really get along with their mothers. Last night she accompanied me to get some groceries and we had dinner together. This afternoon, when there's no one else to have dim sum with, and you really feel like having dim sum, because otherwise there will hardly be a chance to have nice dim sum again ... so who do you call? Mom's the best! :)

We don't eat a lot, and it's nice to bring her out to eat something which we both like. Now if only my grandmother is well. She loves dim sum too. Unfortunately and sadly, her life is pretty much gone. So I tell myself, I will bring my mom out more often to enjoy nice meals together, especially to places where she likes to eat. One never knows when a stroke might hit, or when the brain fails. And everyone gets old ... too fast.

After that, I tried to put my mind seriously into getting something for Wen ... for her birthday many many months back. It's really difficult to get something nice for her. She has everything she wants .... and damn it, she got a damn expensive taste as well. In terms of trinklets ... I cannot appreciate the stuffs she likes, so it's kinda difficult. Very difficult. Very very difficult. Extremely explosively difficult. It's giving me a headache and I had to retire early. Will shop another day. :P

Didn't manage to get my books from the library yet. Should I play more chuzzle? Or maybe I should go and do some housework. heh heh. Four rounds. That's really it. :P

Insomaic ramblings

Just a cup of Earl Grey this morning and I'm doomed to be awake and hyper the whole day. Tea was at about eightish, and it's more than twelve hours but the effects have not worn off. Oh dear me.

Perhaps three teaspoon is way too much. Even hubby felt super hyper after that. Must use less leaves. :P Wedgewood's having a sale. Is the tea there any nicer than Godiva? The Earl Grey at Coffee Club tastes really interesting, the last time I had was like two years ago, I wonder what kind they use. I'm starting to like earl grey as much as ceylon. Mustn't drink too much though. :P

So here I am, after tossing and turning for a while in bed. My brains are still on full gear, and my body is extremely awake. We swam this morning, extremely refreshing ... and I think I'm of two colours now. There were millipedes on the floor of the pool, must be careful not to squash them. Yikes. Hubby didn't care much. But I went all googled eyed staring hard and trying to avoid them. I need to build up stamina again, kinda feeling breathless after a while.

I was remembering something earlier, and thought that it might be worth putting it down to remember. But unfortunately, there are people reading this, and it might be rather strange. Perhaps another time. Somehow, my eyelids seem to be getting heavier. Somehow the mood seems to have dissipated too.

Ah well.

A different perspective

I wonder what happened to Hammie. He's not on icq anymore, nor is he writing his blog. It's kinda strange I guess ... one always see him around on icq but hardly ever talk to him ... and only in absence does one remember. Hmm.

Did I ever mention that Hammie got me writing blogs? I wasn't very interested in writing initially, till I read some good and interesting blogs ... like xena's. heh. There .. inspirations. But I'll never write as well as them.

Nor am I funny or entertaining. I write because sometimes I'm bored.

Like now. After playing chuzzle for the umpteenth time, I really need a break. I'm seeing cute little fuzzle creatures at the back of my closed eyes, and hearing weird explosions all over the place. Pop .. goes the weasel.

And I ran out of books to read. Just finish The Fifth Elephant a while back. A book a day because the later ones were good. Need to haunt the library soon for more.

I must remember, in future, only to buy wrinkle-free shirts for hubby. A wrinkle-free shirt takes only less than five minutes to iron, but more than fifteen damn minutes otherwise.

Do I sound very lethargic? That is because I am feeling extremely bloated after dinner. Also did yoga this morning, and my thighs feel like lead. Plus all that chuzzle playing makes my brain kinda numb. Feeling extremely fat, foolish and fluffy.

And no, I should not lie in bed anymore for it'll only make it worse.

I think I'm quite deprived in my childhood. I never get to read books like Cat in a Hat ... hmm, where did my pretty bookmark disappear to? ... or many other cute picture children books. Mom didn't believe in too many picture books. She wanted us to read lots of words ... and not be distracted by too many pictures. Strangely she allowed us Tintin though, I think she liked those books, though she should be more wary with those books, since Captain Haddock had so many swear words. :P Mom patiently taught me to read and write and to say the multiple table before I entered school. She wrote words on cards and got us to read. I remembered her hand over mine as she helped me write out letters. I remembered standing and reciting the whole multiple table and feeling extremely clever after that. Studying under her was fun. The only thing she didn't believe in was studying chinese. Being English educated herself, I remembered her saying ... aiyah, Chinese not important one .. nevermind. heh heh. Unfortunately ... and till now I always wondered why, I went on to do Chinese as a first language, and suffered horribly over those years. Life goes on, and I still managed to survive that phrase in life. The saving grace I guess was my Chinese teacher in sec four. Who made the language slightly more enjoyable, so I did not spend those time practising my drawing secretly in my books. I really listened, and made an effort. Well, as much effort as I could in my weaken state. It's amazing how with some work one can always pass.

Perhaps I should have worked harder. But my parents never had any ambition or goals for me. Neither were they anyone I could looked up to. Perhaps it's important for parents to have a positive influence for their kids. PM was telling me her mom wanted them to be this, and her father wanted them to be that. They always knew what they wanted. They had an aim. They were rewarded for good grades. I never was. When I got slightly older, all I felt from them was indifference. As long as they see me studying during exams, which can be easily achieved with a storybook hidden inside a textbook, they were okie. There was no interest or urgency to study. I spent my time killing monsters instead. I never studied. I never worked hard. Till now, I can't seem to work hard either.

And it's easy to fall into a depression never knowing what it is that you really wanted. I guess I should be contented with what I have, for it is not in me to work hard. Perhaps I should pick up something and put in effort to be good at it. And that's where personal satisfaction comes in. But I can't seem to find anything worth doing. And so sometimes life is like a monotone. And you can only admire and sometimes envy the passion your friends have in the things they do.

And at the end of the day, you lie to yourself and paint pretty pictures around you.

Perhaps then, that is all that matters.

I wondered then, if my friends would have envied me for what I have. A loving husband, a beautiful home, and a close family. Not much worries most of the time. A pretty easy life and long holidays. Not that I'm complaining, not at all. But sometimes it just feel a little hollow and frightening. All that I have and need and want is just my dearest hubby. What if ... love fades away? Would that ever happen? What would I have left? Nothing, nothing meaningful left for myself.

Woe betide the careless

Oh, what have I done! *slaps hand to forehead*

My two games of chess in chessworld have gone down the longkang. Flush and see it swirling. No photoshop to show the horrible mess I'm in, thank goodness ... not something I want to remember. I'm just sitting on them till I decide on a good day when I'm in a happier mood to resign. They are absolutely hopeless. No knight in shining armour's going to help me. *sob*

Latest addiction of a game: Chuzzle! Wow ... my eyes kinda hurt playing for hours. Very addicitive. That of which was like ultima was a bit tough. After getting killed twice, enough is enough. Perhaps I shall go and dig out my old games. Wonder if I still have them.

I think I should go and rest my eyes. Chuzzle is damn addictive. All those yahoo games in fact. Brainless and addictive. Just the sort to pass the nights away. Definitely good to vegetate.

I should continue on my knitting instead. Of maybe even ... ahem, put in a bit more effort in my chess. *bleah*

We might do a class action suit. Neighbours aren't very happy either.

I'm very tired. I just want my furniture and my lights and have a warm and cozy home.

Nothing doing

It's a beautiful day this morning. If only I do not need to go to work later, that would have been perfect. Now that hubby is not in, it's indeed a good time to clean the house. It's still a bit messy. And it still needs a few more furniture, just that we ran out of money.

Oh well, don't we always need more money? :P

Going out with PM is always interesting. Pigs would fly if she were on time. And I was too optimistic to think that I could get her on her handphone. Yep, it died on her. YS was disappointing too. She didn't turn up. Now why wasn't I too surprised after all? Anyway it was a fun evening. I did my nails before that, and now got a pretty set of toes. heh. PM must learn to be firm and say no without feeling bad. I never have any problems with that ... most of the time. I guess I'm more practical and bochup what others think. Oh well. I got irritated and told her to just tell them no if she didn't want it instead of saying next time. It reads indisicive and sharks are out smelling that blood. The sales talk was really annoying. And I was getting hungry.

Poor PM. I guess sometimes we get gullible when we are down.

But now is a good time to look for apartments. Min might want to take note of some around the city area. Some of the small units looked really good, and perhaps the prices might be suitable. Check out Saturday's newspapers. They usually have their adverts then.

I guess I'm really fortunate to have someone to share the burden of buying a place of our own. It's nice to be able to live away from your parents. My parents are the nicest people on earth, yet I still felt stifling staying with them. I think it's the being able to be mature and independent thingy. You also grow up faster. Not allowing people the means to live on their own is really rotten. Lack of space and housing is just so lame. They just don't want the young people to be too individualistic and independent huh. So they rather let all those public housing go empty.

Well, I'm sure my galfriends can afford it when it comes down to getting a small place of their own. Just that, it simply shackle you to the bank and you really become a poor slave after that. Freedom of another kind, prison of another type.

*sticks head back into the sand*

And we continue to fool ourselves and have pretty dreams.

What a nice morning this is. There are things that need doing around the house. To work!

To do or not to do

Disgusting. They still raised the fares after all. I mean, what do you expect? It's just like the decision on the IR. They have decided already. It makes you wonder about the D word. Then again, we all know that's a lie. Oh well. Can't do anything about it. *sticks head back into sand*

It's depressing.

Something is icking me nowadays. Basically ... should we get them to redo the floor or not? Sloppy workmanship, cheap rotten products. It all adds up. That's what you get from the G you know. Really lousy. Lousy. If we don't do the floor, there's no way we can ever get any compensation. But to think of having to relive through three hellish months of retification works again, all that dust, workers going in and out ... really really unthinkable. So like what pple in this country do ... we'd probably have to resign to our fate.

I hate this.

One day, we will have to leave. There is nothing for us.

Chessy

It's quite rare that I watch TV, but after a wonderful delicious dinner at my parent's place last night, there was nothing much to do except to sit in front of the telly. And since they didn't have cable, the only okie to watch channel happened to be showing Audition Me.

Gee, I think I'm very out of the news here, since I have not much access to home news.

So what was this Audition Me all about? Just another oh-so-boring reality shows that's the in thing right now. I mean if they want to hire someone, they could just do it without all this fuss, right? Pretty smart of them though, fill up a prime time slot, get some people to run the program probably for free, and generate more income by all those inane smses. That's three. Hmmm. So there I was wondering what Benedict Goh was doing in it. Surely ... surely ... he had some advantage since he had some experience right? Hmmm ... then again, after watching him ... he seems to look slightly better than last time, and especially when he doesn't smirk. Why was he smirking throughout his presentation? Eeeeugh.

First contestant seems to have something strange about her face. Can't put my finger on it, seems to be the eyes. Third contestant would be my best bet, actually thought BG could do it ... but after watching him smirking and looking so smug all the way makes me want to throw up.

heh ... so I wonder who would 'win'. Oh well.

How boring to spend an evening like that!

:P

I haven't been doing yoga for a while, and my flabby thighs really got it this time. Urrgh. Still considering whether to go tomorrow. But I think it's going to be on the highly unlikely side. Old already.

I need to wash the dishes. Beef steak tonight with all the usual stuffs. Lots of things needed to be washed. But I'm not moving. Nope. Rearing pigs here. Hubby and I have this most unhealthy habit of needing to lie down after nice huge dinner. Oh dear oh dear.

There was something I wanted to write to remind myself about, but I've forgotten.

Really getting old.

I wonder who is lurking around my blog nowadays. I wonder who actually finds my blog interesting. I wonder why people read my blog. I'm wondering why my friend continues to read my blog. Perhaps it has become a habit. I wonder why I ask people to read my blog in the first place. Sometimes I feel like writing something which I don't want anyone to read, but I couldn't ... so they remain in my head ... and forgotten. Just as well, perhaps some things should not be remembered.

Now I remembered what else I wanted to write. Just finished reading Terry Pratchett The Last Continent. Took me a few days to plough through, which explains a lot. And the story left me ... extremely unsatisfied. What the??? Totally catch no ball. Nonsensical. Strange. Wierd. Would someone please explain. What the hell was going on? There was this part right in front where some miners (I think) found something underground, which was ... alive. And somehow I lost the thread. What the hell was that anyway?

PM just called. Seeing her tomorrow. Yay. :) She's fun to be with, though annoying as well. Now she got a handphone, so hopefully ... it might not be too irritating. :P Hubby puts his finger on the bull's eyes. The thing is that she's fun to talk to. Or rather, entertaining. She talks animatedly when something interests her, and she laughs very carefreely. Breaks all ice. But the problem hubby sees is that she's not exactly 'normal' in her line of work. Too happy, bright, cheerful and sincere ... not exactly very 'normal' so called, with people around her. Sad actually. They lost a gem of a friend. Extremely dedicated to her work.

I guess we all did had quite a good time the other day. Dear hubby, HY and PM certainly seem to have a good time talking shop. The wife was a bit quiet. And I was busy cutting fruits. The rest were completely glued to the telly. Heh heh. Asked PM to come over at night if she needs a place to study, but she didn't want to go all the way to sibera. Even with home-cooked dinner thrown in also no fish. *bleah* I hope she resolves things with her family. It's just very difficult.

Differing views

Said the experienced: You mean you actually took the medicine? We don't take them, you know ... just let things be.

Said the professional: Take the medicine. Why suffer? Just take it. *and stop complaining*

:P

So what should I do?

I hate it.

I hate being unwell.

I hate being moody.

I hate being depressed.

I hate being sian.

I just hate it.

I hate life.

Cleaning frenzy

Sunday is a day for cleaning. I don't have the mood to go for yoga anymore. I don't have the mood for anything nowadays. But it's good to clean. The house is so dirty. Perhaps that's why the lack of mood too.

I just feel depressed. Or perhaps depressed is too strong a word. I just feel sian.

solo friday

We tried thai tonight. It was neither hot nor spicy. Damn. But the mango salad was pretty good, except that everything else tasted salty.

I finally managed to go for my massage. They didn't recommend me to do it actually, but I had to reeaaally persuade them that I reeeaaallly needed one for my neck and shoulders and basically, hell ... I just needed a massage. And it sure was good. Yes, I fell asleep and drooled. Well, almost drooled, you know, you would always wake up in time to suck up the drool somehow. heh.

Really shiok. But standing all the way back in the train negated the good effects of a massage. I shouldn't even wear one inch heels if I'm ever going shopping! Time to take out my new Tods shoes. Oh, when is the sale?! I'm having my eyes on another certain pair, hmm, or pairs. :P

Shopping with younger bro can be quite a chore. He is, I swear, worst than, Mr Fastidious Sebestian O. We nicknamed him that. Don't you think Sebestian always give you an impression of an extremely fastidious and fussy guy? I took a walk around, bought my bread ... and finally he made up his mind what to buy. *rolls eyes* I'm the good sis who offered to pay for his purchases first so that he can get an extra ten percent discount. Now, where is my treat? At least a drink ya? My poor tired feet.

:P

The GSS is now on ... going to check out a few stuffs when it is not so crowded. It's always crazy to shop on a Friday and on weekends. I hate crowds. Need to be hermit. That's why buy house high high in ulu place far far away from everyone. :P Hmm .. shopping. heh heh. Most unfortunately, I've already bought most of my house stuffs. What else shall I get?

My eyes kept going red nowadays, for no reasons. And my ear goes pop, like in an airplane. It's just annoying, and slightly worrying. Perhaps I might go and see my friend though I don't fancy him sticking anything into my nose. He suggested that I wash my bedsheets every week at sixty degrees hot water. Ya right, so troublesome. But it did remind me that we do need to change the sheets. Perhaps it might help the eyes. Need dear hubby's strength though. Mattress extremely heavy.

Nowadays hubby does lots of things around the house. He washes the dishes when I'm tired or simply don't feel like doing them. I am just so lucky to have such a wonderful guy. *warm fuzzy feeling* ... heh heh :) :) :)

Tricky questions

Must learn to be evasive.

Like YS. She's good ... till you can become irritated with her. But still friends ya? Although patience very thin already.

Should not have waited so long. Should have given them away so much earlier. Now perhaps it's too late and have to be wasted. Sad.

Wished hubby doesn't have to work till so late every night. It is so quiet without him. Just don't feel like doing anything now ... except perhaps sleep.

Must find energy to do things. m u s t f i n d e n e r g y . . .

Things that go brumm in the night

Today we test drove the turbo powered golf gti. pretty pretty cool. dangerous though. too fast too powerful.

Hubby has a need for speed. 2. We somehow lost the first one. I used to sit and watch him play, but I think I'll skip this round. Feeling very sleepy after huge dinner.

The phone will always ring immediately after you left it upstairs to go down. And it will always stop ringing after you ran two steps up the stairs. I get enough exercise everyday.

All electronic gadgets should come with a electronic tag or buzzer. Like when you left your handphone on your bed under the numerous pillows or blankets or quilt cover or clothes, you know you can always rely on calling the handphone to find out its position. The same should go to things like air-con controller, watches, alarm clocks, you name it ...

Almost everything goes under my pillows nowadays. Handphone which serve as an alarm clock and the air-con controller. I haven't put my book under yet, or a tooth, reason being I'm not losing any teeth, thank goodness.

Latest craze is bejeweled 2. For hubby, it is driving fast cars. Why do guys always chase after fast cars?

I didn't notice Jar Jar Binks in Return of the Sith. Where did he appear?

I have eaten too much tonight. Strangely I seem to be losing weight. Now I am definitely feeling bloated.

:)

Thoughts of the day

Sin is ...
not doing any ironing for two weeks, or three washings.

Punishment is ...
spending three hours to iron three quarters of the clothes.

And have an aching back after that.

Sin is ...
drooling over the food again and again on Japan Hour.

Banana Nut Crunch

I swear that if hubby were to sing the few notes of the star wars main theme again, I will pound him on his head.

But then again, I just can't get rid of that cheesy tune in my head either.

And we take turns annoying each other by going tum tum tumdum tum tumdum ... etc

Arrrgh, my head.

:P

I've invited a few friends over today. I guess the house isn't completely ready yet. We haven't got the lights and sofa. But I really want to see my friends and show them my lovely house before it became too obvious and tiring. But I'm a horrible planner. I bet Wen is rolling her eyes at me. Yep, that's right. What are we going to do for dinner?

Perhaps we shall order in pizza, or I'll go and da-bao something later. Oh dear.

Hmm, I ought to get some snacks too. And paper plates and cups.

And there definitely aren't enough chairs to go around.

heh heh.

Talk about planning, it's really a terrible headache. There I was, last night, trying to plan a holiday trip. A honeymoon to Japan. How does Wen ever do it the last time? I surfed the net for a while, looked at guide books, and decided to go to bed before my head burst. Perhaps when Wen comes later, I shall entreat her to help me a little.

Then again we might not go to Japan after all. It's a bit too expensive, especially when we have two pairs of eyes on a certain very expensive sofa set. Hubby drools away every time he thinks about it. Or was that supposed to be for that turbo-charged car? Well anyway, to cut costs, we might just go to Bali.

It seems rather boring when I think about going away. It's like ... go Bali do what? Been there done that. Go Japan do what? Been there done that. Oh dear. Perhaps it's the planning part. Oh, I enjoyed myself very much whenever I'm there, but to think of having to plan everything before going makes it quite ... boring.

I wonder how Wen ever does all that planning. I just tag along and enjoy myself.

And to think that we haven't even decide on where to go yet.

Whoops.

Home early

It's easy to become depressed nowadays, and feel extremely sorry for self. There isn't anyone I could complain to, or cry upon a shoulder ... and perhaps that's why I'm writing a blog.

And it's so easy to let some people dictate your life, just because. Did anyone ever say 'no'? Did anyone ever stand up against it, or to speak the truth, to say the actual feelings and to show that perhaps it's just very unreasonable, and it's making other people unhappy and it is heartbreaking to see that? There was totally not a single ounce of empathy. Things will never change, although it's supposed to be better. I dread, really. And I'm afraid that one day, perhaps that is all that will break a marriage apart.

I could not stand for it, and sometimes I do not have the energy to be patient, or graceful. And I'm not ever a nice person.

*****
It was a nice day yesterday. we did a lot of things together and managed to squeeze in Star Wars as well. Not as if we were both hardcore fans, but it is a must-watch movie, to wrap up, so to speak. My favourite is still the fourth episode which captivated me when I was a kid.

Little spoilers, though why I'm writing this warning, I know not, for if you read it and pull your hair out a little, serves you right. :P

3 is okie, though the lines are just as cheesy. The acting was just as stilted, Hayden Christensen looked different, uglier; Natalie Portman older, but was never pretty; Ewan McGregor *rolls eyes*, the part where he saw for his own eyes the betrayal, and he was totally wooden, bad acting. Although I'd think the beard is rather fitting for the older him in episode 4. Count Dooku died so fast, so short, and to think that he fought so hard and so expertly with yoda. Everything seemed to be so rushed, to fit into one episode. Too many things, all chop chop hurriedly.

I guess no one can beat Harrison Ford's charm after all. :P

And definitely many many corny lines. heh.

Still entertaining ... in a way, I guess. And so strange to see them all wearing costumes in the sixties and seventies. heh heh. They looked more appropiate when we were kids, but right now, it's just so out of the world.

And I difinitely prefer Yoda wiser and calmer and sadder in the later episodes. Hard to see him so funky. Cute though, cute.

Pretty, not.

It's very hard to cook anything nice when one doesn't have an appetite at all. I do not know how hubby can feel hungry at this time, especially after lunch at almost 2pm! I certainly don't feel hungry a bit! And it's putting me off from cooking anything nice. So I whipped up something real simple, non-too-lovely, and wala, there it is!

Definitely nothing pretty at all.

Poor dear hubby. :P

I don't feel too good. I don't feel like eating. And I certainly don't feel like cooking nowadays. However, life goes on.

Here's my father's recipe for cooking fish. He made it so nicely the other day, I got him to tell me what it was all about:
Marinate fish slices with a little salt and soy sauce, pepper(?) and some cornstarch for about half an hour. Oh, I forgot to ask if he added rice wine. Hmm. Heat wok with oil, add garlic and ginger(?) and fry for a while. Add water and simmer a bit. I think that was what he said. Am going to try it tomorrow. Looks like I've to ask him again though. :P

water lillies

Culture - it's certainly something we don't have for our own. Even beauty.

I'm always amazed by the gardens they have. So neat and pretty ... and beautiful. Each leave tamed, each branch disciplined, and the background of breeze and cool morning sunlight glows throughout. Paint in a waterfall or a sparkling lake and play the music of running water. Everything well-kept, and loved. You can see the amount of love and attention showered on nature, and how much everything is gingerly taken care of. Perhaps that's the difference.

Some may say there is beauty in wilderness too. I certainly do not disagree. It is the indifference and the artificiality that hurts the eyes, and the soul. What you build and create and leave ignored and abandoned, in a jungle of concrete and a monstrousity of smoke, pollution and metal. Unlike the wilderness, indifferent it is not, for there it is full of life and music. Would we ever to have a garden, to be overrun by our short attention span? Time and effort requires, to create a beautiful haven of peace and serenity.

We are a practical people. To the hawker centre we go, a plate of chay kuay teow, all noodles and sticky stuff, runneth on the plate. A sight for sore eyes, but you hardly throw a glance, or even stop to admire. Just the aroma, and hastily you shove into the mouth. As long as it is hot, and good, and full of sin, would you ask for something pretty to admire?

And so it is most different. With sushi and sashimi ... and many other of their little food. Even the soup, with the egg tofu. A piece of art, to be admired. The taste is exquisite, just a little mouthful. Leaves you wanting for more, and that is the secret.

Big is good ... but small is beautiful.

I dump everything onto the plate, tired and hungry when I'm finished. Cooking is a hot affiare, not something I can do elegantly. The heat, the wok and the adrenaline, makes you want to leave the kitchen, throw in the towel, and tuck in quickly before it gets cold. Would I spend time to arrange every piece of morsel on the plate, just so that it be admired? I don't think so. For we are a practical ... and hungry people.

But it would certainly be nice, once in a while, to sit back and admire, what you put in your mouth. To exclaim and feel your soul soar, with admiration and gladness, to partake that beautiful little morsel, which is most likely damn expensive as well.

We shall have to start planning for a holiday. To hell with the house. :P

Life's little misses

Nowadays I'm quite short with people. I'm tired of being nice and obliging. I don't want to have to wait one hour for a friend to turn up for dinner. And sometimes who couldn't turn up after all. I don't want to have to stay out late as well.

I was quite excited to know that she had arranged some sort of gathering for today, and I thought I could kill two birds with one stone by inviting them and other friends to my house for a mini housewarming since no one have been here yet. I guess I should have known better. Oh well.

Everyone might have to wait for a few more months then. I think we are seriously considering redoing our timber flooring. Carpet is not good, says an expert friend of ours, and it brings down the value of the place. rrrright. So you see, I don't need to have the stress of organising a gathering on top of everything else.

And I'm quite upset to hear that they are actually only able to come so late. If come so late and cannot stay for long, then why bother to come at all? Some more so far away. duh.

And it certainly doesn't help that Monday is going to be a horrible day again. Trust me.

I need to get a phone at home.

tic tac toe

Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday! :) It was a nice day after all. Mainly because hubby took the day off and spent time with me. Oh, we didn't do anything much, cleaned the house together, watched animes, and had dinner with my family. But it's nice to have time together. He has been working late almost everyday, and I guess it's rather lonely without him.

Strange things over the week:

My kids suggested how they should be 'punished'. The ultimate weapon. Writing lines. Hmm, I didn't know it worked. But it did. I wonder if they really enjoyed doing them. Some of them were quite ingenious, writing with two pens. Maybe I should get them to do double the number of lines then. heh.

I've becoming very good at putting on make-up in the car. Even when I'm driving. It's a skill born of desperation. I ought not to idle so much in the morning. Then again, it was too dark in the house. We need to get our lights soon!

Hogfather wasn't particularly funny. It was more sad I felt. I felt quite sorry for Death. His is a lonely job, and people do not like to see him. Definitely quite sad. I guess I must have an overdose of it since I had been reading Mort, Reaper Man and Hogfather in succession.

Oh well.

It's so easy to over-eat. You just sit down and eat and eat and eat, and before you know it, you feel damn bloated. I think I need to cut down on food. *bleah* Strangely, I haven't gained any weight yet. Was there something wrong with the weighing machine?

Dinner for one

My feet hurt like hell. I should not have worn heels and done so much walking. I need a hot soak and a foot massage. Heels looked elegant with my blown curls. But it's too much to ask, walking around like that! :P

Nowadays, Wen has to rush home to feed her dogs. No one else is available for dinner. Sometimes it's rather lonely, even though I was trying to plough through Hogfather. Even Death felt lonely. I guess there are times. And especially so during this time of the year. Birthdays always make me feel sad.

YS smsed me today wishing me a happy birthday. I raised my eye-brows and wryly told her it's not today. I wondered if she truely remembered my birthday. :P It'll be nice to meet up with all of them, but I wonder who is going to initiate a gathering. I feel tired.

I bumped into an old classmate, who had the same birthday as me. What a strange coincidence.

There isn't really anyone to catch up with, and I've already met almost everyone pretty recently. I guess I would truely look forward to meet up with PM, but it's no fun not being able to go blading with her. Hmm, she sounded so professional and detached when asking her for advice. So different from the usual crazy friend I know. heh heh.

I feel old this year.

Of apple pies and grape juice

I rushed through my work today so as to get a lift home from hubby. It was raining, and I hate getting wet. Also, rain sometimes gives me a migrane. Of course, I was also lazy to take a bus back.

So I bought myself a big lunch, and dripped apple pie sauce all over my new writing table. And now it's time to take a nap ... that's what cats do on a nice rainy day right? I'm definitely getting fat and unhealthy. :P

Why does one always feel sleepy after meals? Perhaps I should continue reading my book instead.

*blinks sleepily*

:P

Cookies and cream

It's actually rather dangerous to write blogs nowadays. People who fear and could not trust are starting to take notice. And it's sad, because it just prove to show that there is just a lot of hot air after all. Stop the nightingle from singing and she'll die eventually. It's just not healthy, and it's just pathetic.

What a scary thought.

I felt better after writing about today, and calling my mom up after that. I guess no matter how terrifying and uncertain the future holds, as long as there is dear hubby with me, things really aren't that bad. I'll have to create a new image for now, and perhaps it'll actually be a blessing. After all, I am definitely luckier than most people.

10 ml of blood doesn't seem a lot. And it wasn't even painful this time. heh. But I refused to look at the needle sticking out of my arm. I'm okay with giving blood actually, but I think my blood count is too low. Perhaps I shall go for those blood donation again. If someone accompanies me, that is. :P

When I used to live with my parents, I do take them for granted. Now sometimes I really miss them, especially my mom. I missed coming home to a house where my mom would be, preparing dinner or simply being around. I missed her telling me things about this and that, though sometimes I find them irritating especially if she said the same things more than three times. I missed being able to laze around and knowing that mom does everything for me. *bleah* Darn, I just admitted to being lazy. Yep, my house is still in quite a mess. It wouldn't have been so if mom's around. heh. I missed my mom's cheerful face, and her joy in discovering yet another delicious ramen place to eat.

I shall bring her out for ice-cream someday soon. Just that she's having her tooth fixed and couldn't take any sweet stuffs. And now it seems easier to call her and talk to her about things. It wasn't so much like that last time. I think sometimes I call her just to want to hear her voice. Perhaps it has to do with my state of slight depression too. I just feel comforted.

Yesterday we had my in-laws over. I didn't have time or the mood to cook, so we went out for junk food. Char kuey teow and oyster eggs and the like. Sinful oily unhealthy food. We trick ourselves saying it's once in a while. I get along with them pretty well too. Mother-in-law brought a huge watermelon over. And she got us durians as well. I felt a little bad for not cooking. I had promised myself to cook something nice and healthy for them. But they were quite nice about yesterday. MIL seems to be in a good mood anyway. I think everyone's rather just a little afraid of her sometimes. I know I am ... sometimes. But so far, she's nice to me. heh.

The difference between mom and mil is that mil tends to critisise a lot. Like after dinner, especially outside food, she would hiam about the food all the way home, with FIL, the two of them talking animatedly and we would be having a blank look. My parents on the other hand would be happy and contented and probably feeling sleepy after all that food. If it was not nice, they would just mention it off-hand and vowed never to go back again. If it was nice, my mom would be talking animatedly of how nice the noodle is. :P

So I finally cooked fried bee hoon. It was so nice I helped myself to hubby's plate. I definitely ate too much that day. Dinner tonight was fish and vege and soup. Nothing spectacular mainly because it was too early for me to be hungry and I really don't feel up to it. Just yet.

So a nice family-oriented post, just like some other person. Sweet, innocent and wholesome. So boring. Definitely muzzled.

The things that happen ...

Manically grining away as we aim the wheels over the kid's slippers left on the ground as gatepost in the middle of the road. brump brump ... brump brump. Last glimpse we had was of said kid running franctically to check on item.

Grinning knowingly and wickedly as kid put his finger over the gap as door slowly closes. And hearing the anticipated howl a while later.

Sometimes life can be sweet.

Blue black

Dear blog,

I feel depressed lately. Can you tell? Just a little every day. Just down, closed-in, gloomy. There are many things I do not write here, or show to the world. I keep a smiley poker face and wished there's someone I could pour out all my worries and troubles and indecisions. I used to be able to do that to a friend, not sure if that person is actually listening though, but at least having blab it all out, it feels better, not because it solves all problems, but at least you get a different perspective of how things are. Friend is just as cynical as self. Not sure about now though.

I feel stressed with so many things to think about. Even yoga didn't help much yesterday. It didn't feel like I've done enough work-out to make the mind go numb. Perhaps I shall go and do twenty sun salutations after this. Anyway I've decided not to go to work today. But that just add even more to the guilty feeling.

It doesn't help to tell hubby, because he gets stressed as well as there is nothing he can help. He needs to find solutions to problems, you see. But I just need to take the heavy stone off my heart and have someone laugh with me about how silly this whole world is, and how silly I'm being.

Trivial things: I don't like my workplace very much. I don't like the people there. They aren't friendly. I still feel like a stranger. I missed my old place. Even though not everything there is a bed of roses too. But I'm just whining.

I couldn't finish my markings over the weekend. There're just so many other things to do. I could have finish them at work today, but they lined up some activities that the precious time is taken away. And I thought those activities were supposed to give time for us to finish our markings! What a joke!

I'm worried about how things are going to turn out in the near future. My plans have gone willy-nilly. I can't think how I'm going to be able to straighten things out. Someone said before that I'm kinda of a control freak. Perhaps that's true, now that I think of it. Subconsciously, I do have a kind of control on my life so far. Moving along in terms of a general blur picture, the way I had wanted things to be. Now, like a watery image in the pond, a stone has been cast, and the image has gone to pieces. What am I going to do?

Actually I just need to whine about how things are not going as planned for myself. And I need someone to sympathise with me and not think that I'm just being a spoilt brat whining about how life sucks. ha. Actually I am, and I just can't stand it.

So there.

And now to think of how not to get into trouble for not going to work today. *bleah*

Actually I do have a good reason not to go to work today, but it just doesn't sound very plausible to my ears. I need someone to affirm that it's all right and it's a good reason not to go to work. And hubby doesn't quite help, because after all he'll always be on my side. *sigh*

Flying fish

The sushi in today's Japan Hour looked absolutely heavenly. I was practically drooling away. Even after a huge breakfast. You just can't get such fresh seafood here. Oh ... sumptous sushi. *sigh*

Breakfast was more than I normally take. Too huge in fact, I couldn't really finish. We had tomatos, sausages, half-boiled eggs, bread and milo-milk. I only had one slice of bread with kaya and cheese and I couldn't finish that. I wonder how hubby can eat two slices everyday!

But nothing beats the fresh sushi. *drool*

It was a beautiful morning when I woke up. But dark clouds quickly gather over the horizon. I could see the city skyline at my balcony. As I watched, the sky precipitatedly turned omnimously dark. A flash of lightning ran down to Earth. It must be raining heavily in the city. In fifteen minutes time, while I prepared breakfast and did the laundry, the clouds moved with top speed and poured its woe on us. The unfortunate thing about this place is that rain gets in everytime, and all windows have to be closed. It's rather stuffy.

So it's still raining. I hope it dries up soon so that I can go for yoga. I hate going out in the rain.

*keeps fingers crossed*

Although it's really a nice morning to simply laze in bed and snooze. :P

In fact, I think I shall just do that.

Like a fire, you are full of power and light.

A born leader, you easily draw people toward you.

You are full of courage and usually up for anything dangerous.

What Element Are You?

Flowers in the morning

I've really screwed up most of my chess games. Out of the six games, four are definitely on the downhill. I look at the position, and roll my eyes. Don't feel like moving, as it's just another step into the quicksand. How did I get myself into such a sticky position? yikes.

*shudder*

I should go down for a jog or perhaps even a swim. It's such a beautiful morning today. But hubby is still fast asleep, and I don't feel at all motivated. The house is very nice now. We have gotten our solid teak writing table, and I'm now sitting properly upright. Goodbye neck pains! I hope. :P The floor is still badly done, but we are compromising on them doing carpet from wall to wall for us. Yeah, it's surrender on our part. What to do? Must write 2nd lawyer letter soon though.

Have you ever seen a Barbie doll cake? Quite amazing really. These 3-D cakes.
Yes. It's really a cake. You eat the gown, see. Chocolate cake init. Lots of icing. Very expensive cake. And that's a real Barbie doll stuck in it. Definitely. They rescued the doll by pulling out of the cake later. With shoes and clothes and all that. V liked barbie dolls, and purple colour. Those people who got that cake for her are really wonderful. I didn't get anything for her this year, because I figured she should have enough of dolls, but mainly because there were too many distractions too. So only an angpow. I guess I do feel a little bad. I should send her my ROM photo soon. Owed her since ... like last year. *bleah*

But it was nice catching up with good friends then. Hubby and I were rather ... lost for words to see HY so FAT. Yep, FAT. His wife sure must have pampered him with food. Or perhaps it's all junk food. I feed hubby almost everyday, thank goodness he doesn't bloom like that. hahaha.

There seemed to be less people visiting her this year. I feel quite paiseh to receive a present from her. The thought really counts. I must try harder next year! :P

I shall get an ice-cream cake for myself for my birthday. :P

This is pretty cool. :) Make your own here.

Being half-hearted

Everything that had been was just being half-hearted. Still rather undecided.

My hamstrings and butt ached from not doing yoga for so long. Too many stairs too.

On a funnier note, looking through the shopping bag, I was surprised to find hubby actually bought that nine-piece tool set. He was just as surprised when I waved it at him, catching his attention. OH. Dear.

Screws

I think I've screwed up most of my chess games at chessworld. Winning games now look uncertain, perhaps a draw. Uncertain games look poised to lose. *clutch head*

Yesterday was major DIY work. Hubby got his good friend down and together they drilled holes in the walls, hammer in nails, drilled more holes, clank clank clank, wank wonk bish ... and they put up a shelf for me in my yard. Critical moi QCed, and told them it's slanted. Whoops. That was because the floor is slanted and they took measurements from the floor! yikes. Oh well, we aren't going to roll any marbles down the slope are we? I guess it'll do, the leaning tower of pisa.

Just rather irritating, so don't look too hard at it!

And more work goes into our cupboards. We fixed a filing unit into the cupboard. It's pretty ingenious actually, and it was a good thing that it fitted in nicely. They fixed it up after dinner while I was washing the dishes. I could hear lots of banging and heavy things dropping. heh. Now all we need is to cut a little bit off the front 'drawer' and cut a few more shelves to size. Wala. Our own build-in shelfing unit with everything. :P

I cooked roasted chicken wings, long beans with chilli prwans, egg with pork omelete and pea soup. The boys were supposed to go swimming, but they took forever to complete their task. Ikea stuffs aren't easy to fix at all! If just the two of us, we would probably never even know where to start! Thank goodness for the help! I supposed hubby was rather sly. He tempted his friend over for a swim and dinner and all they did were pretty hard labour. :P hiaks. And lots of drinks. heh heh.

Hmm, no yoga today. I am SO unhealthy now.

Big breakfast

Writing blogs can be rather theraputic. Sometimes when one is feeling overwhelm, it helps that one has to reorganise the thoughts to put them down. In a way, the mind settles as well.

This morning, I was feeling decidedly light-headed. The world spun around when I got up from bed. Was it because I slept too much last night? Oh, yeah, I remembered. I didn't really have dinner last night. Didn't have my usual intake of carbo - rice, that is. At 5.30pm last night, I wasn't hungry enough to have dinner together with hubby, so I cut the rice and ate only the rest. There was egg with prawns omelete, stir-fry shredded pork with ginger and big green not-so-leafy vege (leaves were a bit spoilt). I guess I'm really a rice person. I needed the rice.

So I just made myself a nice big breakfast. Hot milo with milk (full cream, hell, I hate skim milk!), a slice of bread with thick, and I really mean thick, wallop of strawberry jam, cherry tomatoes, yum! and sausages from a can. Top it up with a slice of cheese, melted. I loved cheese sausage, you see ... those fresh ones you buy over the counter, with cheese stuffed in the sausage, but since I did not have the chance to get some, I just have to make do. Sausages in a can doesn't taste as nice, but beggers can't be choosers. That should do for my glucose level. :)

A big breakfast as good as anywhere. Home-made is still the best. You can't get it anywhere. Later when hubby is awake, I shall make half-boiled eggs. Love the eggs. Runny in the inside, and soft on the outside. Heh heh.

Sometimes I would love to have bacon, for you can use the oil left by the bacon to fry your eggs in. Sometimes it's nice to have honey-baked ham as well, and I should get some lettuce too. Once I get my non-stick frying pan, I shall be able to make egg omelettes, like those you get for breakfast in hotels. I shall have to buy more fresh strawberries too. It's lovely to have fresh strawberries for breakfast.

And now if only the river doesn't stink so much, I can have my breakfast out on the balcony, overlooking the park and the city skyline on a clear day. It's the bloody low tide. I think the moon is too powerful this round, and had really sucked the river down to its bed. It never was that stink!

Being tired

I finally managed to find a way to get those kids entertained. Created word search puzzles, crossword puzzles and the like, and boy ... did I have peace after that. Oh, not so much really. The girls could finish them in five to ten minutes! So the next day, it was a 25x25 puzzle. That got them stumped. :) And I had lots of backups after that. Maze games, more crossword puzzles ... they seemed pretty pre-occupied with their work.

And that pretty much settled for revision. Yay me.

And yes, it's Friday again, and Monday is a holiday. Yay me.

:)

I must stop finding excuses and get my butt down for yoga, before I become fatter and more nua. Like a slug. I'm feeling like a slug nowadays, simply oozing around trying to stay out of the heat. heh. Speaking of slugs, there was a program on BBC about snails. Eating them I mean. They were pretty good, the producers. Hubby and I felt that we could really eat snails after listening to them expounding on the virtues of snail eating. And they were starting to listen delicious.

Then again, we were hungry. On our way to my parents' place for dinner. :P

What's wrong with eating snails anyway? They're just like clams, or oysters, or prawns or ... well. And probably cheaper too, since you can just pick them up from your garden. *bleah*

And so what do I really want for my birthday? It was definitely a straight forward question, and I did think about it.

And am still thinking about it. :P

I got a $50 voucher from my favourite clothes store. Shall go shopping soon! heh heh.

Perhaps I could want the set of four comic books from the anime Howl's Moving Castle. They're selling them at Kino. I had the series for The Cat Returns.

But I still prefer the original story by Diana Wynne Jones. Howl in the anime doesn't feel like Howl in the book. He's too fake, not charming or wicked enough. And too much is removed from the story. Oh well.

I'm suffering from a dearth of animes. Gakuen Alice is pretty good. But it seems to be coming out once a month. Torture!

Giving your hp number to your students can end up as a chore. Was spending quite a long time exchanging smses to a student's questions. Pretty dumb actually, especially since all those questions I had gone through before in class. Seems that some people just don't pay attention and expect private tuition at any time. I wouldn't have minded very much if the questions were something I've never touched upon. But they were the same ones again and again! Good grief!

Then again, I have not much of a life nowadays. To spend Friday night holed up at home with cooking, cleaning and washing ... and feeling tired and lazy. *sigh*

Lin is so very busy. It's very hard to meet up with her. She has turned into a workaholic. To think that we waited for her for one whole hour the last last time. And recently we didn't even managed to meet up because YS couldn't wait for her and wanted to start dinner first. When she did that, I knew somewhere in my heart that Lin wouldn't be turning up anymore. It can be quite tiring to be with YS. I ended up reading my book. :P She does whines quite a bit. All in all, it was quite disappointing, because I never liked Sakae Sushi. It was only bearable and even fun if eaten with someone who is tremondously enthusiastic about it. I certainly didn't enjoy myself and it wasn't cheap either.

meow

We saw a big fat lion cat sitting majestically outside a kopitham. Oh yes, extremely fat and cute and regal. Damn kewl!

mao!

another day

I had wanted to go somewhere and chill. Find a nice comfy place, lounge about and read a book, and drink ... pause ... that's the problem. I don't take coffee, and I don't really want to drink tea. So I didn't know where I could go, and ended up wandering like a meaningless ghost.

*sigh*

Just a little down.

Comfort food

Ahh, haggan daz tramisu and strawberries from Japan. For breakfast. The strawberries were very expensive, but very sweet ... and pretty. I wonder if the normal ones are just as good. Hmm. Four times more ex. :P

But such a nice breakfast would surely cheer anyone up. :) Quite.

I think it is my blurred eyesight that is irritating me to no end. And of course the dear thumb. Bad thumb. I don't feel 100% yet.

Oh well.

Update: 10.12am

Just checked my wound. It's about 12mm in length, and real deep at one end. One part of it is nicely healing, but the deep end, the meat from inside is still showing. You know like when you cut a raw fish, and the meat spills out, or when you cut a piece of your medium rare beef steak, and it budges out all red and bloody? Anyone grossed out yet? Well, I was quite. Better wrap it up and keep from sight.

:P

Called my mom yesterday to get sympahty. Didn't quite dare to tell her I cut my thumb on opening a can. Felt very stupid to open can with hand. That was one of those things mom drilled into me when young. She assumed that I cut myself with a knife. It helps somewhat to talk to mom.

She doesn't think it's a good idea to simply do the carpet. I'm somewhat two minds about it. Doing carpet seems to be letting them off too lightly. Now that they are so willing to redo the entire room for us. But both of us just can't bear to go through three months of that again.

What a headache.

The decision is between the devil and the deep blue sea.

I shall watch animes instead.

The most stupid thing ever!

Opening the can with my hand. And promptly cut my thumb. Of course. Damn deeply. Damn painful too.

Bled all over the kitchen sink. Can even see them meat peeking out of the wound. Gross me off lunch.

Had it glued. Stitches is so last generation. Thumb now good for nothing. *sniff*

And of course it had to happen on the day we invited hubby's family over for dinner. I still managed to cook, abiet slowly. We did: lotus shoot soup with pork ribs, egg with onions, prawns and squids with red bell pepper, chicken nuggets with seaweed, and stir fry bak choy with scallops. Hubby and I both agreed that we won't do this again.

I learned to peel prawns and cracked eggs with my left hand. What's that? Ambidextrous? :P

Still not worth it. :(

Today is sunday. I am so not looking forward to tomorrow. *sigh*

The big boss came down to look at the timber flooring. He was very obliging and extremely polite. Agreed that indeed they were sloppily done. Yes yes, nod nod, very sorry. This cannot be so. We'll redo the entire room. Both of them. We'll hack down part of the wall to repair. I think it had got to do with the letter. However, I'm not sure we want to live through the nightmare again. *sigh* Three more months of that, I'll go crazy. The curtains are up. Life is quite comfy now. *sigh sigh sigh*

So how now, brown cow?

:(

I should go for yoga today, but I don't feel up to it. I just feel like wallowing in depression at home. Besides my eyes are still a little dry, and my thumb is injured. Definitely excuses.

*sigh*

And I've made a miscalculation somewhere, and going to have to pay for it. Was winning earlier! What happened?

Cheers

My steamed pork-ribs in black bean sauce was a success! Hubby liked it. Even me, ever so critical, felt that it was pretty good. heh heh. Except perhaps it could do with less salt, not that I added salt in, just less of the black bean sauce to make it less salty. The bittergourd wasn't too happy init though. I was thinking of putting them in later, but the lazy half of me said,'what the heck' and dumped everything in together. The pork ribs were tender, and the bittergourd almost disappeared into the gravy. *bleah* Perhaps my subconscious was telling us that the bittergourd which had been kept for too long should not be eaten.

At least we finished that. Although I had to throw almost half of what was left away.

We also had snow peas with prawns and minced pork, stir fry. Snow peas weren't in a very good condition either. I think I ought to check the container more often to see what's in it. :P

I think I shall try Western dishes next time. I'm thinking of making couscous. I like the couscous at Esmarada, and the seafood soup. Hmm ... perhaps my birthday. :P Although it's so expensive, we're just waiting for any discounts.

Hubby's birthday is coming. I'm making beef steak. What else? :P It's special, because I don't cook beef steak very often, but otherwise I think making beef steak is one of the easiest thing to cook. The mash potato is a little troublesome. And I always cheated with the mushroom soup. heh heh. Hmm, what style should I cook this time?

And now the pile of dishes are sitting happily in the sink waiting to be noticed.

I'm not seeing them. But hubby is not moving from the tele either. I'll forgive him this time, but when he's on holiday, he'll do the washing. :P

I'm glad xena's back on writing her blog. It's different reading other people's blogs. Hers has a quiet charm, it make you want to read again. And again. And waiting for her to write more. The other fellow who writes just as intense and silent is re-mi. I guess perhaps they leave a lot of things unsaid, and perhaps a little in between the lines. That's charm.

Me? I just rumble along like a little cloud. Sometimes fluffy like a flying turtle, sometimes dark as an angry wombat. *bleah*

Did I say I also like Jo Sharp's knitting books? :P It might be a little too late to order them online to be in time for my birthday present though. *bleah*

Okie, right now the stuffs I still lack (or rather want) are ... [I'm greedy!]
1. slow cooker (they say toyami brand good)
2. small non-stick frying pan (wen says the german brand benados or something is good)
3. electric juicer for squeezing oranges (different from those apples one lah) ... [I'm also fussy!]
4. ...

Can't think of any right now. :P

Bumped into L the other day. Everyone's asking me what I want for my housewarming. I feel quite paiseh to tell them, because the stuffs I want are rather ex. Maybe I won't even throw a housewarming party. heh heh. I'm too lazy to prepare food for so many pple. Hmmm ....

Some idiot is playing the four knights again. How can I run from that? Arrgh.

Monday again

Yup, the horrid day again. I was feeling extremely hungry and sorry for myself by 3pm. Managed to find some biscuits to eat. It's just such a depressing and stressful day. I don't believe I've ever felt like that before in my previous workplace.

*sigh*

Anyway, it's good to be home.

Cooking can be very stressful, and destressing ... and it's fun. :)

Have finished preparations for dinner, going to cook soon.

I was shocked to find three quarters of a bittergourd in the tupperware. Dunno put how long! I guess we would be having bittergourd for the next couple of days. Today's menu: chicken with mushrooms and bamboo shoots, bittergourd with egg, and bittergourd soup. I was actually thinking of putting bittergourd in the chicken as well, but I think both of us need a break. :P

So tomorrow, I've decided it'll be bittergourd with pork-ribs in black bean sauce. Steamed. heh heh. And hopefully that'll be the end of the bittergourd. :)

I need more ideas for cooking. It's really very fun to cook. :) One of those days when I'm freer, I'll try to cook something interesting. :)

For lack of a better title

I wrote a blog on Monday, but it was eaten up by blogger. I saved it somewhere, but it didn't seem appropriate to post now, since I don't feel that way at the moment. Basically it was a rant of how I hated Mondays. No lunch break and extremely blued Monday. Then again, I was still sick on Monday, so that added to the misery.

But now I'm ok. Well, much better. My eyes had gone dry. I wondered if it was because of the antibiotic eyedrops. They're still red and a bit sore, because of the dryness, and especially bad in the mornings.

And hubby got sick too. With compliments from me. Exactly the same symptomes. Waking up in the middle of the night, feeling as if someone stick a knife down the throat. It's just as tiring if he gets sick.

I can't sleep a lot nowadays. By 6am, I had to jump out of bed. Anything but lying down. This is bad. Even when I was sick, I couldn't sleep much either. Oh dear.

*sigh*

I feel depressed at work. Did I mention I don't like the people here. I prefer my colleagues back at the previous place. Perhaps it was the familiarity. And sometimes now and then, I think about my ex students. I wonder if they are managing the chess club ok. One of my good boy smsed to ask for help. I hope he manages to continue playing more chess. I hope the CG club is doing well. Gee, I miss my former form class.

Perhaps I'm just tired.

I have to do other stuffs besides working and cleaning the house. I've checked out violin lessons at the not-so-near-or-far music centre. I hope they have good teachers there, and not someone who was just green behind the ears and didn't even know that G minor has an F#. I wish I could bring my piano over soon, so I can bang on it a while, and pick up all those pieces which I've tried to learn over the years. I wish those players at chessworld would hurry up and make their moves, since that's the only entertainment (well, besides reading), that I derive ... and there's a couple of games I'm winning, and I can't wait to get satisfaction out of them. Well, there were a few extremely unclear games as well. I've run out of moves in those. Closed games, that's why. Both of us were simply dancing around the position.

We went down to Park Mall again and drooled at the furniture there. They got beautiful chess sets too. I don't mind getting one for my birthday, you know. :P The cheapest one lah. Very cute pieces. heh. They don't come with the chessboards though. But the pieces were very unique. Very cute. Yeah, that's the word. Cute. cutsie chess pieces. You've just gotta see them. heh heh. It's the wood. I like wood stuffs. But then, why would I want so many chess sets for? hmm.

If you want to challenge me to a game of chess, go to www.chessworld.net.

Idle Saturday

Daa! Daa! Daa! is really sweet. heh

Just finished watching them all. Really really sweet.

I guess we're going to idle the whole day away. Gonna make dinner soon. Steamed chicken, steamed tofu, vege and maybe soup. :) But there's no substitute for the stuffs my parents cook! Dinner cooked by them is still the best!! yum yum!! Friday night's dinner especially tasted wonderful. I had not two but three helpings! yum yum yum! It's just taste different, the way they cook. No matter how awful the week had been, no matter how sick one had been, and how lack of appetite one was in ... that Friday's dinner was really heaven. Simple stuffs like bittergourd with eggs, prawns with mushroom and soup ... was enough to make me go for three helpings. I'd never tasted anything so superb.

I've not reached their stage yet. There's just something missing in my meals.

And that so wonderful dinner, I fell asleep immediately after. Wished hubby was there that night to have dinner with me. :P But he declared he loved my japanese noodles soup I made for him before we left ... so I guess that's fine too.

*beamz*

I'm glad to be well now. No more bad throat, no more fever, no more coughing, no more sore eyes ... and I suppose no more lazing at home. heh.

But that also means ... ice-cream later. *bleah*

Driving Terror

1) Singaporean Drivers are just plain allergic to their indicator lights.

2) They will never, even upon pain of death, ever indicate when they are about to change lane

Oh yes! Ohyesohyesohyes!! When they do that and nearly cause an accident, I really wish lightning would strike them twice and fry them quick. Or rather, just a hard tight slap would do. Didn't their mama ever teach them manners?

Just the other day, some bastard of a driver cut into our lane at the traffic junction. What? He thought he was a fast porsche huh? When the lights turned green, he drove straight cutting into our lane. Blarddy arsehole. Keep to your lane. And it was a straight road, mind you! And it was in the morning too. Some people have got no cow-sense. *fuming mad*

4) Taxi drivers always indicate before they change lanes, but don't give a rats ass whether you take notice or not, ergo (I watched the Matrix...) all drivers give way to Taxis.
I'm not sure if taxi drivers always indicate when changing lanes, but one thing which sure as hell pisses me off is that they always stop anywhere they want with very little notice. If you ever drive behind a taxi, for all you know, suddenly the hazard lights turn on, and they would almost stop one second after, anywhere from a slip road to a single lane road, and always just right in front of you. Stay away from them!

6) If non-Taxi changes lane anyhow (I'm a fast learner), The Singa Driver (tm) does make way but honks indignantly.
Actually ... from the point of the driver who honks, not that I ever honk, since I just can't multi-task with too many things when I'm driving, and honking requires a third hand and a third eye, which thankfully I'm just a normal girl ... well, what I mean to say is that there are people who indicate and expect the right of way to get into your lane, without considering that 1. they are driving rather slowly and they want to change into the fast lane, and 2. there is a car coming down on them fast and to CUT into that lane like that is damn rude as well as dangerous ... you can't expect one to brake so suddenly just because you think the road is clear. And no, I do not agree about the accelerating part, I think it's just that you have a bad judge on the speed of the incoming car. So it is indeed irritating, when there you are driving fast in the fast lane, conscienously leaving a good distance from the car in front of you, and there some idiot decides to CUT into your lane thinking he can just go as fast when there is actually no where faster to go, causing you to jam on your brakes. I would like a third hand to horn.

*bleah*

And just the other day I panicked and had to fumble with the silly cashcard when I went under the ERP gantry. I'm not sure if I managed to get it in in time ... one needed four hands for that, two set of eyes and an extra brain. Bloody erp, bloody cashcard slot. 9am and there's still erp?! I didn't know which way to insert the card. :P

I guess we'll be expecting a letter soon. *sigh*

On a good note, I guess I'm driving quite nicely now. No more panicking when changing lanes on an expressway, pretty good at the parking part, and definitely more relaxed on the whole. Still just a little misjudged when come to stopping along the curbs, usually ended up bumping a little. heh. :)

Daa!

I haven't been writing because I had been sick. It is already more than a week. My MC rate has shot sky-high, but you know ... they don't really give you much sympathy. Today I dragged myself to work, even though I was coughing away, and I pretty much lost my voice and had to go home early. But nooo ... no sympathy there either. *sigh*

It just makes one thinks how awful this world is huh.

Anyway, it's nice not to go to work, but it sucks to be sick. I can hardly eat any nice stuffs. I bought two tubs of Hazgan daz the other day when they were on offer, and I had not even touch any of them yet! *sob* I felt stress, but I could hardly indulge in that canister of potato chips back home. *sigh* It isn't that nice to be sick after all, especially when you get suspicious looks in that order.

:(

So I've been playing quite a bit of chess, watched quite a few animes ... latest craze is Daa! Daa! Daa! Very cute one. heh. Cooked and cleaned the place quite a bit too. I seemed to have problems sleeping lately, perhaps that kinda make me hard to get well, I guess.

Oh well ... it's kinda ... depressing ... in a way.

Butter Biscuit

Last night I moonlighted as a taxi-driver and drove Wen to pick up her puppy. We had to go all the way to some super far and ulu warehouse. Now, when I mean ulu I really mean it. We got lost a few times and went round the place twice, made a few illegal u-turns as well ... but good thing very little traffic.

Her puppy cried for ten hours. Tears caked onto her eyes. Poor little mutt. Oh .. I mean purebreed.

Eventually we got her to quieten down and she seemed quite happy ... after some snacks, lots of hugs, a walk and a pee, and dozz off on the long journey home. Wen said the Changi Nasi Lemak was very good. I just couldn't resist getting one for hubby. :P

And it was really good. Especially when we were fighting over one packet only. :P :P

Ack, my throat.

I took a few pics, but they didn't turn out quite well ... and I don't have any software to cut a few stuffs out. So here's only one.

So sweet eh?

Biscuit was very happy to have a playmate ... until she saw his toys. It became a tug of war, a shove and a push, and low menacing growls. We definitely saw him pushing her away, and she fell with tud. Ohh, and she hasn't learned how to brake yet, and hit the glass door extremely loudly on the head.

Bis is definitely much much bigger. heh heh

But she's prettier. At least her ears are in the proper alignment.

Wen wanted to call her Butter ... but one of her friends had Buttercup. Then perhaps Button might be nice. I prefer butter ... butter biscuit. heh. Then C went like ... ohh, Button .. Butt Butt ... Hey Butt ... ha haha. So I guess Holly she will be till her mom can come up with a better name.
