The time is mine

Perhaps the problem is just me.

Perhaps I should just stop trying so hard.

I should not feel guilty about doing all the things that I've always been doing before. After all, when you offer your help once too often, you get taken for granted. Next time I'll just wait till it's asked for.

Yep, that's just it. No worries.

Things I must do:
1. Back to yoga.
2. Meet up with my girlfriends.
3. Go for my spa/facial/massage/etc therapy.
4. Stop feeling guilty about enjoying myself.
5. Go pick up the bloody violin. *bleah*

Yep, that's it. :)

Nothing beats having a pep talk to oneself.

*****
The annual dinner was quite disappointing. I was actually looking forward to it, until a few unhappy incidents. There was a bitchy Ah-Lian in the office whose yapping barks got on one's nerves. Hmm, actually that was the only incident. But like I've always tell my students, dogs are actually nicer animals than their human counterparts. And we do not speak the language of beasts.

Anyway, I was hoping to doll myself up with all the latest gold shimmer stuffs I got from Bobbi Brown. But my hair spa took longer than I expected and by the time I finished, there was only time to pick up the car and hubby, picked up baby, go home, dressed baby in something nicer, dropped hubby at work and go for dinner. Damn. All my new cosmetics never used. *sigh*

And I didn't quite like my new hair styling. I got them to blow straight, but it was too flat. I guess rebonding is out again. Did I hear Wen sigh? :P

Some gossipy stuffs: I think my colleagues (well, some of them, especially the older ones) must never have ever gotten the chance to dress up or put on makeup. The night was a night of awful makeup and gaudy dresses. God, you don't blush your face till it's red on both cheeks, and go with BLUE eye-shadows. And if you're ugly to look at in the first place, makeup doesn't make you any prettier.

Am I bad or what?

Still there's some pretty eye-candy. I hope she wins. :)

Old School

You know when old girls get together, chips would fly. :P Even though I've never ever spoken to her, not a single time, and yet we chatted like old friends. From bulldogs to whatnots.

Her face looked vaguely familiar. And I don't even know her name. But it was kinda fun trying to see how many people we both knew, and we so prattled on. Makes me kinda wished I've made more friends when I was in school. We parted and we promised to keep in touch. Yet I wonder if she really knew my name too. Me super low profile one. heh.

Anyway, the children nutrient talk turned out to be a children nutrient supplement talk. It makes a world of a difference you know. Not that they did any hard sell, but the sublimal message was there. The scare tatics, the guilt trip, the professional speaker. Well, I guess supplements is like a religion. Quite hard for me to buy it. And quite a lot of the talk my mom could have told me. Or a good book. Nothing was new.

Nevertheless, it was fun meeting new people, hmm .. or old. Whatever. :P

And I guess the best nutritious food is still home-cooked.

Boo!

Three girls squated around in a circle in an empty classroom in the middle of the night. The room was dark and the place was quiet. Each of the girls held a lighted candle. The first girl spoke and told them that each of them must tell a ghost or scary story then blow out the candle. When everyone has blown out the candle, each will take a turn to count out the number of people in the room. There will be an extra person in the room and she wants to know if it's going to be true. Then she blows out the candle and it's the second girl's turn. When all three had told a ghost story and the room became dark once again, they started counting. 1 ... 2 ... 3 ... ...

Now that is a really frightening ghost story! :P Anime: Ghost Hunt. I wonder when the second episode will be out. heh.

Unfortunately I didn't get to tell the kids about this one. I'm sure it'll freak them out big time.

I went to the library to grab a book and went away with Classic Ghost Stories. These classic kind of books are usually not very frightening and the language tends to be long and winding. However, some of the stories can really chill the bones and set the pace. So I always like reading them. A couple of my students saw me with the book, they were very excited and picked it up to read. I think they couldn't even make one paragraph, so they begged me to tell them the story. :P Well, I obliged, but it wasn't really very fun telling ghost stories in broad day light and when the story itself wasn't very frightening. So I embellished a little, put in some sound effects, and my boy was listening till like his eyes was popping out of his head. It didn't take much for his friend to creep up behind him and do a boo. heh heh heh.

All said and done, I still don't read the book when I'm all alone at home. Baby doesn't count!

Wen has been waxing lyrical over her Jap dessert in her blog. That day I happened to pass by and decided to try some.

Unlike her who is sooo not hardworking and never provide us with any pics, here's a photo ... :P

Verdict? I didn't like it very much. The ice-cream was so little, see, it's not even one full scoop, and the jelly didn't taste nice at all and too much, too dry and no taste. And most of the stuffs are just canned. It confirms my belief that that Jap place isn't good at all. I didn't like any of the food there either. And when a Jap place doesn't serve free green tea, it's a place where no respectable Japanese will go.

Beta version

Finally did something to my blog, though not much. First I changed it into the beta version. Not sure it was a wise choice ... but hey, it's always good to try something new eh? One thing for sure, a lot of stuffs went missing, and I've been trying to put them back as much as I could.

One thing I'm very happy about is that I've managed to put an image as my header. No more just boring words or that ugly tiled blued thingy. Heh. Not that my image is very nice though, that picture was hastily sketched and scanned just to try out. I might draw another one in future. Maybe. :P

I've managed to get my haloscan comments back. Thanks to a few instructions and all. And this webpage is a gem if you're looking for more hacks. I'll take my time though, me not very ambitious. :P And I'm still exploring how I want my page to be.

Weekend stories

We shared the lift with some neighbours and their big baby boy this evening. When we got home, dear hubby remarked to baby dearest, 'You are now only known as Cute Rascal. We just saw a Handsome Boy.'

It was fun attending the Bobbi Brown makeup workshop. This time, it was the Gold Collection. We had some lovely refreshments before the workshop started. It was a pity Min couldn't join me, but I managed to get HM to go with me. She enjoyed herself very much too. This time I think I've really learnt how to use the eye-lash curler! I'm going to like my gold glitter lip gloss very much. I'm not sure the lip shimmer and the gold shimmer brick compact is going to be much used, but girls will be girls will be girls. We were so totally sold on the pretty gliterry gold stuffs! The make-up instructors were the same, and we had a nice chat with the young chap who instructed me and Wen the last time we were at the workshop together. Yep, I'm collecting certificates. Haha. Darn, and I haven't even used the lip tint I got at the last workshop! These pple are good at sales!

After the make-up session, my friend turned to me and remarked that she thinks both of us are the prettiest amongst the rest of the participants. I hooted with laughter, said that shouldn't be so, then took a good look around the participants and had to agree with her. We both fell over each other laughing manically.

It's quite strange to be looking at my friend's wedding photos. BTW, baby is soooooo photogenic! He looks handsomest of all, ahem, I meant cutest (rascal) of all. :P But I digress, it's strange because both the bride and groom were my classmates, and when we were classmates in JC, the two of them were the most unlikest couple! And you remember that when we were all in JC, he was scuffy and sleepyheaded and throughout the two years, I think I've only spoken to him once. And my girlfriend whom I was quite closed to was just the same now and then, and I'd never have thought them to be together. Oh well.

Hmmm, quality of photos seemed quite bad though.

Anyway ... I'd better sleep. :P

The calm

Actually I immediately felt better after ranting. It's strange eh? Some people feel worse after ranting. Me? After writing all those stuffs down, I suddenly felt I can face life again. :) Went down and smiled at my parents and gave baby a hug. Don't feel annoyed with hubby too. Ahh ... the power of writing. Leave your words and anger somewhere and don't carry it in the heart. :)

I think it was also because the paracetamol finally started to kick in. :P No more body aches or headaches or fever. Heh. Gotta stock up more. Zarin it is. Something wierd about it though. I managed to dig out two last tablets, one from my own stock and another given to me by a colleage. One left of each because I only took one during those times. And the one given to me by the colleage tasted really bitter whereas the one which was originally mine didn't. Placebo? Hmmmm ....

Neighbour came over with her two month baby to say hi. Gosh ... two month old J is sooooo soooo light! I missed carrying a two month old baby. And he was sooo cute, sleeping in my arms. And he has a head full of hair! My baby is fat and heavy and has no hair. But... he's still cute. Heh. Shh, now he's sleeping. I stuffed the pacifier into his mouth, with one hand, I held his hands down, with the other, I held on to the pacifier so that he doesn't spit it out, and finally he falls asleep with the pacifier. *whew*

Anime now. :D

I am not responsible for you

The house got so many ants! I just found their nest and sprayed it. Now going to clean up the dead ants.

Correct response: Here, let me help you.
Or: Hey, you can get those ant bait thingy, will stop them from coming.

Incorrect response: You're so dirty, eat already never clean up. So messy, always leave food around. Got time go and keep the place clean instead of idling.

Arrgh.

I have a full time job. I come home and have to take care of baby. I have to cook for the hubby. I have to wash the clothes. Sometimes I have to help the hubby. I've lost weight. I don't have time for myself. My hubby owes me money. My money goes to pay the bills. I want to buy nice things for myself. I didn't have a wedding present. I didn't have a birthday present. I didn't have a birthday cake. My in-laws starved me. My in-laws did not give me anything when we married. My in-laws did not give me anything when I had baby. My in-laws only helps with baby when they are free. My mom wants to go away end of October. Who is going to take care of baby? Who did they expect to take care of baby? My body was aching and I had to cook lunch. And the hubby wasn't too happy that it took so long (45 min to cook rice and chicken wings?). The cleaner didn't clean the place clean enough. I had to supervise her. I get dropped off at the MRT and have to take the train home with baby at night. Sometimes he would cry and would not want to be in the pram and I had to carry him in one arm and push the pram in the other.

My body ached and my head ached and I was running a temperature.

Correct response: Let you mummy rest okie, come gonggong play with you.
Incorrect response: Your mummy doesn't want you anymore.

Everybody can go and be damned.

How to drive me nuts

I'm so glad that my parents came over today. However ....

Why did you not eat the oranges? So long already rot already!

Why never eat the apples? See, rot already!

How come fridge so messy! I just tidied for you the last time!

Why never cook fish in the rice cooker for baby?

Etc.

And I was running a temperature with a bone weary ache.

And I had to run around the house listening to her and look for my paracetamol.

*sigh*

A week passes by

On Thursday, Mom cooked a mean pot of pig trotters. It was absolutely sinfully delicious. And coming right after a day of a non-dinner night. :P Mom sat by me and we chatted happily while she encouraged me to take one more. All together I had 3 and a half or was it 4 and a half? Sharing with her some of course.

Three hours later, I threw up every single bit of that yummy dinner. :( *sob*

That was the third time ever in my life that I got a headache so bad that it made me vomit.

I hurled out the whole contents of my stomach till it was empty and my throat felt raw. Then I threw up again and again till even the gastric juices came out. My headache was that bad. Or was it a migrane then?

So I had a jab, and was finally pain-free! Dear hubby said it probably made me a bit high as it was an opiate family. OH well. :p

Mom was so disappointed when I told her I threw up everything though. So was I.

Must be triggered by the stupid haze.

*****
Baby climbed up the stairs. All two flights of it, under the watchful eyes and encouragement of his grandpa, grandma and me. We tried to teach him to climb down properly, but I think he was too elated and tired to try. Next time. :)

Baby doesn't quite know how to crawl properly, he scoots around on his tummy, like a seal. :P The other day I saw him lifted up his buttocks and crawled on his hands and knees and I shouted excitedly to my mother, only in the next second, to see baby flopped back on his tummy again and scooted towards the kitchen. Lazy bum I guess.

If you put out baby's toys in front of him and mix something which is not his toy in the mess, baby will unwaveringly reach out for the object which is not his toy. We will not buy anymore toys for him.

Baby dearest is going on ten months, and he's already ten kilos.

Swim dunk

We brought baby to swim on Wednesday evening. :)

He was afraid.

He was cautious.

He was just a little wide-eyed and worried.

My parents were around, and my father (being the strongest) carried him to play with the water, but baby was just too scared.

So me, the mummy held him tightly to show him that there was nothing to be afraid about.

And me, the mummy slipped on a step and went dunking into the water.

All the way head in trying to find my footing.

With baby in my arms.

All the way over his little head.

Baby was simply too stunned to cry.

I think that was fortunate = he didn't breathe water?

heh heh heh.

Shall we try that again? What is the best way to learn swimming? Definitely a little dunking to start with.

:P

My time is mine

Only early in the mornings or late at nights, when baby sleeps soundly with hubby. Only at such time can I do things for myself.

In the mornings, I would quickly do the laundry (that was yesterday!), clear the house, or bathe. Today I read some blogs, write my blog, and will have to clear the study room soon. Perhaps I should get some exercise too before I feel sleepy again. :P

Sometimes I wonder where all my friends have gone too. All work and study and no one to play with. Yesterday, I took baby and myself off to town to shop and walk. Stictly speaking, I wasn't alone then. We visited the bookshop and I got myself a cookbook: Harumi's Japanese Home Cooking. And got hubby a car magazine. Yep, finally spent Min's bday present! :) Thanks Min! :) :)

I also bumped into an ex-classmate with her hubby and baby took that time to wake up and cry. Or rather, when they made faces at him, he started crying. Heh. I didn't have too much time to spend in the bookstore, so I couldn't really browse through all the books properly and choose a good cookbook and it's always a problem to find out which cookbooks are good. Wonder if Wen got any good ones, must go look at her collection first. Heh, at least can browse in the comfort of her room, with only her dogs poking their cute little noses at me. :P

After that I fed my dear baby and we went to watch a fashion show. That was the main purpose for going out yesterday. We were late and couldn't get good seats, so ended up standing by the side. That was the first time I've ever attended their fashion show, they always invited me, but I never could find the time. Well, the whole thing was quite informal ... wasn't glam or anything like that. The models all looked the same, tall skinny, brown long hair, wavy, fair skin, sharp features. All mixed I think. Well, I guess when one is tall and skinny, ahem, I mean slim ... whatever clothes one wears looks good. Besides I didn't quite like the autumn-winter collection as everything was black black and black.

Anyway, baby and I had fun. :) I packed some sushi home and put baby to sleep, so that I could wash the clothes. I poured out some sake but had only one bite of my dinner before baby woke up and cried. So off he went standing at the coffee-table wreaking the place while I had my dinner in peace. :P

Just another quiet Saturday spent.

My apple crumble too

Lunch was fried rice, but the photos I took turned out too blur. I was inspired by Obachan so I made my own apple crumble too. I think I'd like mine with a scoop of vanila ice-cream, so called hubby to get one tub home. Seems like everywhere's out. :( Nevermind, there are still some left. :)

Everybody loved it! :) Mom and dad, and dear hubby too when he got home. And baby too. haha.

Wanted to invite PM over too to have some since it's her birthday today. I won't say I specially made for her, but I did make it in mind of her. Unfortunately she couldn't make it, and told me in no uncertain terms to practise first before she'll try some. Humf. Well, after I told her it was my first apple crumble I've ever made in my entire life.

It turned out well anyway. :) I still have some, how am I going to keep it? And I have some crumble left too, can make another small one!

So who's coming for dessert? :)

Pain pain go away

So I am still recovering from a bad case of runny nose which got so bad that I got sinus infection and am now on antibiotics. The pain was like a toothache and a headache, which just didn't go away, so a visit to the dentist to make sure that it wasn't a tooth decay. Thank goodness. Dear hubby is right after all, but he's not sympathetic, still. :P

Baby ripped out another page of my book while I was not looking, or rather, while hubby was not looking, and he (hubby) gleefully brought the torn page to me, like a trophy which baby won. Duh. Not to mention baby ripped out the plastic cover of another book I had. Think baby wants to start reading soon. He's just not very interested in his own books though. He wants things which are similar to what we have. Why cloth books or thick pages books which are unrippable?

Baby dearest is now at my feet happily shredding the tissue paper he managed to pull out before I caught him. I wonder if he would spoil the printer one day by pulling and tugging at it everytime he sits on the floor!

Dear hubby remarked that now as a parent he understands a few things about how other parents have been behaving. Previously he always get annoyed when kids make noise or pulls things off tables or grab the newspapers like his brother's kids. Now, when baby does that, we look at him proudly and say ... ohh, baby is learning to talk! How precious. Ohh, baby knows how to grab things! How smart! etc etc. Haha. I bet if someone with another perspective would view it just as irritating as hubby once had. Smack his little hands!

I guess we just have to be faster than him and pick up his toys behind him.

Damn tired, and baby has been waking up after eleven at night and didn't want to sleep after that.

It's no wonder I can't recover at all.

Hell hath no fury

I am angry because ...

That day hubby hiam that the food I cooked wasn't enough, so I fried him an egg on his mom's $3 Ikea telfon frying pan, and of course the fried egg tasted horrible. Haha.

I told him I don't use such frying pan. Every cent adds to the quality. I already had a nice expensive frying pan which is not telfon. And it cooks eggs very nicely. As in the other day I fried onion omelette and cod fish in it.

Well, anyway, I used the telfon frying pan to make my point, two points actually. :P

But that wasn't the end, or the story. I was starved for two days while having dinner at his mom's place. The first night dinner consisted of rice which was too wet to be rice, but too dry to be porriage. Read: Slimy starchy wet soggy rice. Plus canned beans (which I didn't like) and pumpkin (which tasted like ... err, overcooked, not sweet, no taste) and cold soup (I hate soup when it's cold!) which was tasteless too, tasted like some leftover soup which she just added extra water init, with some wierd herbs.

The second dinner, well ... rice was all right, and there was one HUGE bowl of stewed cold bittergourd, a little bit is fine ... but one HUGE bowl? And cold. Canned sardines, more canned beans (probably left over from the above), lukewarm soup with very expensive mushrooms she said which had no taste after being boiled like forever in the soup? Some left over two tablespoons of soggy egg with raw onions and some tough pork with cold tofu. Can't quite remember. And everything was cold. It was absolutely yucky. I guessed I stuffed myself with the cold sardines. They were the only pretty okay stuffs. You dumped lots of the sardine gravy and stuffed your face with the gravy and rice and snatched whatever sardines from hubby.

If you think that's the worst ... no it's not. The worst is having her looming at the table WATCHING you eat. And critising when you took very little rice when you saw the food at the table. And trying to FORCE you to eat all those horrible stuffs. And putting all those horrible stuffs onto your plate. One has to be quick, when her back is turned, quickly transfer to hubby, who protested loudly. Huh. And I was forced to eat some kind of BARK, you know those herbal stuffs you put in the soup to make it tasty and norishing, but you DON'T EAT IT!!!?!?!!!

Waaaaaaah! I feel very sick when I think of the torture I had to endure during those mealtimes. Good think I escaped this afternoon. It was cold tofu in semi-slimy-and-wet-rice with .... MORE BAKED BEANS!!!

WAAAAAH.

I went without lunch today.

It's no wonder I'm losing weight yeah? And everytime after dinner there, there's not enough food for baby.

Arrrrrrgh!

And what did hubby say? Nostagic.

So don't ever complain that I don't cook enough food!!!!!! I think it was two dishes that day. Cannot remember, too long. hahaha.

That's it ... never going to have my dinner there. Will practise polite decline.

As always, as ever ...

My one week break has come and gone. I didn't quite have a good break, but it wasn't overly stressful in a way.

Baby darling had diarrhea for the whole week. Still having diarrhea and now he's coughing and throwing up his milk after coughing too much! First he had rashes on his tummy and back and hands and feet, and for a while I was rather worried about HFMD. But it was more of an allergy because the poor mummy had very bad headaches and shoulder, neck and backache, and she stuck lots of koryok on herself, which probably leads to baby dear absorbing all those methyl-salicylate. So now the poor mummy still has very bad headaches and shoulder, neck and backache, and she's resorting to popping paracetamol like sweets. Perhaps the diarrhea is also a result of that? But it shouldn't be for that was one week after the rashes. *sigh*

Mom said baby dearest looks very pale. Of course he would be. It's been nine days and he's still having diarrhea. :(

But the good news is that baby dear is ever so active, and irrepressible, and so cheerful, except when we force the medicine down his throat. :P

He's coming to nine months now, and he has grown *gasp* six centimetres taller! My big baby boy! :)

So over the week, I spent some time at work, and the rest of the time at home taking care and playing with baby dear.

On Wednesday, I did this: :)

It took me 4 rounds of baking, for my oven was too small and could only bake 8 each time. I didn't have unsalted butter though, so I used the normal butter thingy and cut down on the amount of salt. I got my recipe from my bake book here, but I guess chocolate chip cookies are all the same everywhere. :) I put in walnuts and lots of Hersheys chocolate chips. (They melted in the open and I dumped them in the fridge, most of them now don't resemble chips!)

I scaled down everything by half, or as close as I could, and I realised why I could never be good at baking, for I couldn't be bothered to be exact in all my measurements. Darn, I need a proper mixing bowl! For one. When I stirred in my flour, one turn of the spoon sent the flour flying onto me. And I need a proper stirring spoon! Using a metal spoon to stir hurts the palm. If not, I guess I should get a hand-mixer if I'm to do such stuffs again!

Impromptu mixing bowl.

After that I made sorta-tom-yum udon noodle soup for dinner.

It was sort of rushed, for dear hubby was getting home soon. So I guess ... need more improvement on that one! I didn't have lime, and I didn't really want to put in the Thai fish sauce. :P And I didn't have enough lemongrass. And I put in tomatos too. Hmm ... tasted kinda ... strange. Heh. Maybe I should just stick to my normal style.

On a side-note, I wonder why my cookies became quite hard after a day. Is it because there was too little butter? They were nice and crunchy when hot though.

****
The other day, I turned a corner, and was lost for words when I saw ... instead of the familiar old red-brick building, it was simply one huge gaping hole. Damn, so depressing! I didn't know so much had changed. Well, I knew they were going to pull down the library, but I didn't know it made everything looked so horrible. Gone was the nice warm cosy comforting place. Gone! Gone! And it really was a huge gaping hole there! Some sort of underpass? Souless now.

I worked there once. I loved the tress and walking up to the building from the bus-stop. I loved going there in the evening, where the wind would blow the leaves on my feet and tease the top of the tress. I loved the crooked stairs with old bricks on the side, going up to the main building. Damn, should have gone to take photos there.

****
I was actually thinking of making pizza the next day after the cookies, but I guess that's enough baking and cooking (from recipe books) for now. Till the next holidays! :)

Hunger power

As much as I would like to change my blog layout, I can't do it right away, for I have not the time or patience or the commitment. So here I am, posting again. :P

I had only an hour to prepare for dinner last night before dear hubby went to work. Came home in the afternoon and completely passed out. Good thing baby was very cooperative too, and the three of us slept like ... well, baby. :P So when I woke up, I had to defrost the chicken and cook almost immediately, and the chicken was just a little hard still.

Anyway, the fastest way of cooking is to cook udon. Dry with mom's homemade chilli, a bit of this and that and lots of vege.

Yep, that's mine. Hubby had already wolfed his down. :P Of course the photos aren't as nice as other pple's, I've still a long way to go if I want to take good quality photos!

Then we had dessert, or rather I had dessert after that.

I sure liked my very sweet. :) Barley, snow fungus, red dates, almond nuts, lotus seeds ... and lots of rock sugar. Of course hubby got his watered down as he didn't like it too sweet. I'm the only one with the sweet tooth. :P

I packed one for hubby and one for his assistant, but theirs weren't too good as the dessert didn't really have time to cook. Heh. His assistant said the lotus seeds were still too hard! Oh well ... what can I do in an hour anyway?

Oh yes, baby wants some too! :P

Half past bake.

I really didn't feel like blogging until I do up my blog. This place is soooo .... stale and boring, that I don't feel like writing. But some news can't wait:

1. Baby is growing his upper teeth. Not two, not four ... but SIX upper teeth! Yeah, a mouthful of teeth. I can see him thinking of biting mummy real soon.

2. Mushishi live action. Read all about it. Though I agree with Garten that Ginko looks damn weird. He got a moustache??! And a little goat-beard?!? What the? Hey, the Ginko in the anime is clean-shaven. And his white hair looks so dry ... and ... damn, kind of reminds me of Shaggy in the movies, not the cartoon. Ha. But the actress Aoi Yuu looks pretty. :) Maybe I'll stick to animes.

3. Am pouring through all my cookbooks and bakebooks and wondering what I shall try out next. Am so inspired by Obachan. Hmmmmm .... Maybe I should just learn how to take nice photos and some photo edit software and try to make boy's photos look more ... nice. :P Wait till I'm free. haiz.

4. Just when I think life gets depressing, then suddenly there seems to be so much things I would like to do!

5. One of my students gave me a big bagful of baby clothes ... for my boy she says. She's soo sweet. :) Non-local. I don't really know what to say. This is the first time anyone has ever done such a sweet thing for me ... well, someone outside my circle of friends. :P

6. Must do something sweet for them too. Yep, make cards. Hmm hmm hmm.

Challenge of the geekette

Sometimes it really takes one a kick in the ass to get going.

Damn, do I sound like a donkey or what? Sheesh.

Okie, all that requires now is proof-reading and working out the answers. It's that simple really. I guess I was spoilt rotten previously. Now I know how nice they were, and how not nice they are.

Anyway, I shall send out resumes for a new job. I must believe in myself, know what I'm capable of doing and go and do what I want! Yeah.

I missed having friends whom I can really talk to.

Anyway, Bees and Wees had passed me the last of the trilogy. It's a good thing the weekend is coming up. More sleepless nights. But after such brain power drain now, it's hard to get to sleep too.

Another job for myself: I've printed out my source code and will spend some time figuring out which is which and hopefully I can learn some html or whatever it is called now and work on a new something. Hey, it shouldn't be too difficult huh? Wish I got some photoshop tools though. Must learn to take nicer photos too.

Yep, these are the little things that one can look forward to. :) Reminds me of PM.

Wimper for help.

Oh yes. I'm quite sick of my blog's layout now. Would be eternally grateful for some help to change the background and stuffs. Leave me a message if you can help me!!

B is for BogeyMonster

I've been meaning to write, but I kept getting sidetracked. Hmm. Okie, that's not absolutely true, I don't really feel like writing much nowadays. I guess there isn't really much to write about, or perhaps there were much more exciting and interesting things to do out there, or perhaps simply, one just gets tired of things after a while.

Yet I had been extremely busy. And stressed. And that makes it even worse. For when one is stressed, one does everything except.

Deadlines are looming. Or rather, have come and gone and postponed yet again. There is no running away, no hiding under the blanket, no digging a hole and poking the head in, no putting a paper bag over the head. The horrors are still there. You may cover your hands with your eyes and play peekaboo and get giggles from your baby, but the boggie monster is still out there, waiting for you behind the door. Here today, right now, is still another game of hide and seek with the boggie monster. Yep, typing away on the keyboard, insignificant mortals us, and Mr Boogie Monster is just waiting behind the screen. Oh, but I just need to get started!

Everything aside, don't you just hate it when the hero has an important task to do, yet he is up to his neck or rather cheeks with fillers? No no ... not that fillers you use to puff up your cheeks so that you look like the korean-girl-next-door-poor-but-falls-in-love-with-rich-guy-who-has-a-girlfriend. Not that I watch Korean stuffs, but the TV nanny always says Korean everytime I'm in front of it. One wonders what happens to the cutesy Japanese stuffs. Give me Jdramas anytime! But like the sad fate of car license plates, K comes after J, and J is sadly a has-been.

Hmm, where was I?

Twenty more years later, and you would think that I should know better. Hey, it simply feels like twenty years ago!

I started reading and finished the first two books of The Obsidian Trilogy in less than a week. Lovely story that. And you really cannot decide whether the computer is a boon or a fiend. I wanted to quote a particular paragraph onto here, but I just can't find that bloodly page or paragraph. Where's the damn search/find button when you need it desperately? What can I say? Go read it yourself. It started off slow, but really picked up quite a bit after a few false starts. And I liked it for the analogy of the Golden City of a Thousand Bells with another we all are too familiar with. My dearest boy also wanted to learn to read, and he was quite adamant about it, and thus managed to get his gubby little fingers on one page. Mummy cannot afford to buy new books, but she will have to. They're not mine after all. Deduct from his bank account. Ha. So young owe me money!

So we made a trip down to Sunny, and the books were not in stock. Instead I went away thirty dollars poorer, and got myself more sleepless nights. :P

So the next book was Earth, Fire, Air and Custard (or Fire, Earth, Air ... or earth, air, fire or whatever) by Tom Holt. Have been keeping an eye out for his books for quite a while, you know you have this feeling that he is pretty crazy, and it is definitely proven after reading that book! Unfortunately, there wasn't any fine print which states that the book is in the nth order and one must read the (n-1)th order or (n-2)th order first, and so I wasn't quite pleased or satisfied with the whole gummybusiness. But I supposed it saves one some money for the (n-1)th book cos' it's unlikely one wants to get it, unless from the library or more from Bees and Wees. Still, the story was ... interesting, in a way ... and ... just a little nonsensical, but it pretty much flowed, and your curiosity was definitely pipped, and you just wanted to know where all the reasonless parts lead to. Nope, no sudden feelings of joy nor relief, but it certainly serves as a morsel of a custard cake to one's hungry tummy. Or maybe it's just the stress talking.

Of course in between, I managed to catch two more episodes of the anime I was waiting for, and nonsensical things cometh in pairs; Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu was just as confusing and entertaining, so that kept me occupied while the boogieman lurks just besides my feet, with fins just clearing the floorboards.

Baby boy is walking forwards on the walker, is able to pull himself up once in a big yellow moon, is growing upper teeth, all except the front two upper ones, has pooed lots today with face turning beetred in the process, and seems to be rather conscious of pronouncing ba,pa,ma,da etc. Oh and he loves sticking his fingers into his mouth and definitely choking after that. And did I mention he ate more paper the other day, and this time he definitely swallowed it, with the end result of coughing and vomiting everything out after an hour or so. Yep, brown pieces of paper. Hubby-not-dear gave him a brown envelope to play with while I was preparing dinner, and baby-still-dear played with it quietly and happily, of course. *rolls eyes*

Who reads my blog nowadays? Even though I hardly write? Besides of course I know who. :) C is for cookie monster because I love cookies, for the double chocolate chip cookies by famous amos, which Min always give me, and she being the one who got me hooked on. :) Do you know Addiction? Goes damn well with milk.

The other day I had a impromptu sort of free bone density test, and woe woe woe .... I'm in the osteoporous thingy part. Sob. I'm definitely going to be a wrinkled and crooked and holey bony old lady next time. Does the cheese actually work?

Question of the Day: Why does Mogu dog not have a name when all her other dogs have one? Grrrrrrr.

We looked at cheek cells and onion cells today. Never done that before when I was a student, so I was pretty much greener than them, as they did it in primary school! But still, one doesn't get where one is if one doesn't know how to smoke, and after the tenth time of saying onion rings instead of onion cells, one more or less gets the hang of it. However, one does know that saliva and cheek cells do look different, and it's quite fun to quash all those enthusiastic bright eyed wonders when they excitedly tells one that they got the cheek cells. Ha. Ha. Ha.

And of course, Happy Birthday ... even though I hate to think of Her and Them together ...

Now, if only a dollar will drop from the sky everytime someone says he's cute. ;)
